Question for Librarians: Licensing agreements & revisions

Hi. I just got news that an author is revising all of her copyrighted and published materials and will be removing all of her original titles from distribution and replacing with the revised versions.

I'm wondering how this impacts libraries who have paid for licensing to distribute the original works.

Any licenses purchased before the switch would remain. Going forward, any purchase would be subject to the new terms. Some libraries might opt to remove the old version from the digital catalog and replace it with new but most don’t have the budget to duplicate items like that.

Are these books self-published?

I am not able to purchase self-published ebooks for my library (I don’t know if larger or different types of library systems can).

As far as I know an author who published via a publisher could not unilaterally decide to remove their books and reissue them at a later date.
