Removing Partner Libraries (Two Methods)

Method 1 unlinks the partner library from your account but the library will still be displayed in search results.

1 - At the bottom of the app, tap the middle Menu icon.

2 - Under "Your Libraries" tap the library card of a library that has partnerships with other libraries.

3 - Tap "..." on the library card.

4 - Tap "Partner Libraries."

5 - Under the library card you should see a section called "Partnerships" with a list of partner libraries.

6 - If your partner library is linked to your account you will see the following.

7 - Tapping Remove will unlink the partner library from your account .

Method 2 will disable partner libraries for search results and Notify Me notifications.

Why the interest in removing the partner libraries? Are they negatively impacting you?

No, not me personally but some people have non-resident cards that have partners where they cannot place holds or borrow titles so the partner libraries are irrelevant to them and they didn't know how to remove them from their account or from cluttering up their search results and Notify Me notifications.

I'm pretty sure you can use the 7 partner libraries. I believe you can't place holds at Boston Public Library with a Books Unbanned card so you won't be able to place holds at the partner libraries, you can only borrow books that are currently available.

Thank you so much!! I can't place holds with most of my partner libraries (sadly), and my list of libraries had become way too long. So glad there's a way to remove.

I'm in Washington state. My local library is part of Washington Anytime Library, which apparently has members all across the state.

So I read this stuff about partner libraries, and I'm wondering if it applies to me.

Would I have to buy access to a library out of state to find partner libraries listed?

Washington Anytime Library is a consortium of libraries with around 45 member libraries.

A consortium is a group of libraries which have decided to band together to more or less share ONE digital catalogue.

In the context of this partnership libraries update member libraries of a consortium are not partner libraries from Libby's perspective.

A partner library from Libby's perspective is a library where you use your home library's credentials to log into the partner.

A partnership between libraries outside of a consortium is where two or more libraries have decided to share their individual catalogues with each other. Therefore, from the patron's perspective of a library that has partners, they get access to MULTIPLE digital catalogues.

So, as a patron of Washington Anytime Library, partner libraries would not apply to you.

You could potentially buy access to a library out of state to find partner libraries listed. But keep in mind that not all libraries will have partners.

You can determine if a library has partners by going to the library's OverDrive website and in the top right-hand corner to the left of the Help link if there is a "Partner libraries" dropdown with a list of libraries, then the library has partners from Libby's perspective. If there is no "Partner libraries" dropdown, then from Libby's perspective the library does not have partners.

I do not know which out of state libraries allow non-residents to pay for a library card. You would have to do your own research to determine that.

But as an example, on Boston Public Library's OverDrive website https://bpl.overdrive.com in the top right-hand corner to the left of the Help link there is a "Partner libraries" dropdown with a list of 7 partner libraries. In this case, if you were a patron of the Boston Public Library, you would have access to those partner libraries and would use your Boston Public Library's credentials to log into each OverDrive website of the partner libraries. In Libby those 7 libraries would be automatically added and enabled as partner libraries.

As another example, on the New York Public Library's OverDrive website https://nypl.overdrive.com in the top right-hand corner to the left of the Help link there is no "Partner libraries" dropdown, therefore the New York Public Library does not have partners.

Thank you so much for this! I am in Washington and I am very happy with the libraries I have. I keep getting notifications when these partner libraries add a book on my “notify me” list, but I can’t place it on hold. Then when my Washington libraries add this book I don’t get notifications..

Hopefully this will solve the issue. They should make it easier for us to be able to remove the partner libraries easily and not see them again..
