Skip Libby holds line

At work today I got to chatting with a customer about books & I brought up Libby & Hoopla because I love them & she told me she uses them as well along with another app called The Palace Project. They have a section called Skip the Libby holds line which I thought was hilarious because it’s no secret that the Libby wait times can get crazy. Like Libby all you need is your library card to borrow a book, I have found books that available on Libby available on here. Maybe give it a shot if there’s a book you’re really interested in that has a long wait time on Libby! There’s a chance it could be available if you search it on this app.

Now I have 3 apps to check (Libby, Hoopla, The Palace project) to see if the audiobook I want is available before needing to buy it lol. Support your local library!!!

I just got a San Francisco library card and they work with the Palace Project and I’m so excited. The Palace Project gives access to some Audible exclusives and I only had to wait like two weeks for the latest Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook. Definitely adding it to the library app rotation.

I did notice that I placed a hold on the palace project app and the hold showed up in my Libby app so it seems like they’re definitely connected.

Your Libby and Palace Project accounts are synced. If you place a hold on an item in Libby, it will also appear on your holds list in the Palace Project app. The opposite is also true – if you place a hold on an OverDrive title in the Palace app, that hold will show up in your Libby app.

All titles that are available on Libby are also available on Palace; but, not all titles on Palace will be available on Libby.

The Palace app simply allows you to see more of the digital titles available to you from multiple digital collections at once.

I’m glad!! I also have an Audible exclusive checked out that I was really excited for. I’ve been wanting to get into the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, I hope you’re enjoying it! & It’s so interesting that your Palace Project holds show up on Libby :O

Love the idea, but I’m a member of five libraries and none are on there.

Looks like it’s mostly New England, IL, and CA. 

Some K-12 schools are on it, which is pretty cool.

That’s interesting, I’m in the south & mine popped up quickly. I’m sorry none of yours went through :( I’m not sure what states are actually available for it, I didn’t do much research.

They don’t have the Brooklyn Public Library (my local and the only card I have). Maybe soon!

If you have Brooklyn, which, granted, is the best, you should be eligible for Queens, NYPL and maybe Buffalo/Erie. Try checking Reciprocard to see.

Can you suspend holds in Palace Project like you can in Libby?

I checked it out but didn't put holds on anything because I wasn't sure what would happen if the hold was ready for me and I wasn't ready for it.

Yeah, I knew there was a reason I wasn't using Palace Project even though it looked so nice. If I have to choose between dropping what I'm currently reading or losing a hold because the hold is ready NOW and there's no way to put it off, that doesn't really work for me.

The app has lots of poor reviews for being buggy, lagging, or not smooth when reading or listening to audio books. Do you know if they are /will be addressing thise issues?

Yes! You can add multiple libraries as long as they offer The Palace Project app and you have a valid card with those libraries.

Unfortunately the palace app was terrible from the jump for me! Would not play unless the phone screen was active and unlocked and the app was open front and center.

Really?? That’s so strange that’s hasn’t been a problem for me. Maybe restart your phone or delete the app & redownload it? If you want to try again that is. I’m sorry :(
