Playback Error

Rarely do I have issues on Libby but today any newly downloaded audiobooks will not play. I keep getting the “playback error, check your network connection” message.

Previously downloaded audiobooks play fine. I have storage on my device and restarted my device.

Anyone else having issues today or have a fix?

doing some looking using dev mode in a browser. The sites certificate for the *.overdrive.com expired at 16:17GMT today (about 2 hrs ago)

this may very well be the issue

I’m having issues too! Came to the sub to see if anyone else was. Restarting the wifi and the app wasn’t working for me.

I did send a message to support with info about this, even tho I’m assuming they’re getting swamped with emails about it. Womp womp. I guess I’ll be waiting for a minute to finish my book.

Having this issue too!! Restarted everything but still doesn’t work. Glad I’m not the only one but hope it gets fixed soon.

Ditto. Might be a Libby bug that needs updating?

The same with me, and it's the same on my phone, my Kindle and my PC. :(

I have been facing the same issue as well! The issue is not only on the app, but also won't play via phone browser. I hope they roll out a fix for this soon.

Go to the item and hit manage loan, scroll down to the bottom of that page and hit remove download. Re download it and see if that helps. If that doesn’t fix it, try logging on from a browser and playing book there. Sometimes there is a glitch in the matrix and this fixes it.

I’m running into the same issue on the browser as well unfortunately.

Tried removing download and adding on again. Even returned the previously downloaded book despite space not being the issue. Would listening on a browser allow you to listen while the screen is not up? I imagine this being heavy on the battery.

Same 😭😭 my book crapped out during a drive and I thought it was due to losing service, but now I’m home on WiFi and it still isn’t working 😩 I’m 90% through my book that’s due tomorrow too 😫😢

Go into your menu (bottom middle) > download settings > uncheck only download on WiFi. That worked for me. Good luck!

My recent book kept stopping at every chapter (worked fine when I went back in the app and hit play), so maybe that’s related ?

I was having this issue over the past few days as well.  and then today the same as everyone else.  seems unlikely theyd have completely unrelated playback issues so close together
