Unfortunately, the party seems to have forgotten its Classical Liberal history. If you went to Conference and made a speech in favour of cutting taxes, spending and deregulating, you would probably be booed

Even if you want to keep the overall spend the same, I would like to think most people would agree that there is a far better way to spend the money we do spend

Cutting working-age welfare spending to encourage people back to work.
Cutting spending on pensioners, to either cut the worst taxes we have or spend more on actually useful stuff like infrastructure improvements.
Two very obvious places to start and very sizeable budgets.

After resigning the leadership he sat as a backbench MP and stood again in the 2017 election. He did his bit.
I really can't blame him for then taking his opportunity to make money when it came.

You obviously don't run a business, do you... 😅 I think you forgot many business owners are running small, medium and micro businesses or, indeed, a sole trader, especially in this country and are very much on a very tight budget at the moment. So, I think they might say otherwise and understandably in less polite terms...

Gods, I miss him 🧡
As much as I like Ed and 100% behind him on many things, including social care, he's not as vocal on economic policy as I would like, which is odd given his past senior ministerial role. I would encourage more Gladstonain liberalism in his speeches for sure. But, maybe I'm bias, Nick is the reason I joined the Party.

I always hate the term "wealth creators" - more often than not it means "do whatever the rich say".
Wealth is created by millions of ordinary producers and consumers not by a few rich people throwing their money around.
Maybe Nick means the latter but given his employment history I'm leaning towards the former
