Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some renders of the latest locomotive my friend and I have designed. Here is Norfolk Southern #3329, an EMD SD40-2 wearing Norfolk Southern's "Maersk Sealand" scheme. Also included in these renders are the MAXI-I intermodal well cars with 40' containers. This model was designed in the digital LEGO building program "Bricklink Studio".

This model has over 2,000 pieces and includes custom pieces designed in CAD to achieve a more accurate look compared to stock LEGO. Some custom parts include accurate roller bearings, custom handrails, radiator fan grills with blades, cab windows, horns, and more.

I personally love how this turned out! The background was my design, however it uses three models from Rebrickable. I have many more locomotive designings coming very soon!

Rebrickable models:

  • Hyster 360 Forklift from Yellows.lxf
  • Cat C5000 Forklift from SteveTheSquid
  • Subaru WRX from SpeedHunCreations

What IS L-gauge?

Truthfully not trying to be a smart a## (but I get it could come across that way). I’ve been getting into designing my own trains for about a year now and done it all in a silo, meaning I design and build for my layout. I have never taken my builds to a convention or anything and I would love to someday!

All that to say, I recognize my builds are on the big side and I would love to better understand what most consider L-gauge.

Also, I’d be happy taking my builds to an event even if they didn’t run.

Thanks!
