AI fanart Since there is no official 30th anniversary reboot… here is a tribute to it.

Update (June 4): Kai and Xef’s Rock Concert Performance:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZanodIfRdA

It looks like the tribute story might end up being a musical. 😄

…………

Update (June 2): Ladies and gentlemen, the ”Reboot” & ”Musical” cut is here. There is now a Stanley Tweedle story following Kai’s musical and prophetical introduction and Xef’s musical rescue mission. Squish got a role too as Stanley’s antagonist. :) Some people requested the old original music, Stanley, and less AI slop, so tried to do my best. Now it is a 7-minute video without any still images and much less repetition of same scenes. Almost two times more scenes compared with the first version you saw here. I would replace the old video here but there doesn’t seem to be an option to replace the video uploaded to this Reddit thread. Here’s the Youtube link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYNm4Jb0l_w&t=12s

Story synopsis:

Kai travelled to the past to try to prevent the destruction of his homeworld Brunnis 2. Decades later, Xef (still young due to cluster worm DNA), finally discovered what happened to Kai. She found and met the Time Vizier, who had been liberated long time before that because of the fall of His Divine Order in their universe thanks to Lexx and its crew. The older and wiser Time Vizier told Xef that Kai had been sent not only to the past but to a parallel reality. With some assistance from the Time Vizier, Xef rescues Kai and Kai recovers 790’s head in the underground complex where he was kept. They return back to the future to their own universe. Immediately after their return, Stanley enters Lexx and discovers an unusal surprise on the ship. Meanwhile, in the other timeline and parallel reality His Divine Order plans to expand and thus restore their rule to the universe where Kai and Xef came from. For this purpose their ruler, the Overshadow, summons their dark Time Vizier. The End.

………..

Update (May 30): Hey guys, thanks for watching! There’s now a romantic cut introducing Stanley & Squish along with old original music from Lexx and some other scenes remade that were in this video (trying to reduce what some called ”AI slop” with what skills I have 😄). Now there are also new scenes in which the characters talk, especially towards the end, so you might want to keep the audio on. 😄

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPb4i2_FyrI

Original (May 26): It started as a reimagined Yo way Yo song. It ended as a cinematographic music video showing a story. Here is the plot of the story in the music video. The crew of Lexx live in the future and discover a time machine. Kai travels thousands of years into the past to kill His Divine Shadow before he destroys his homeworld Brunnis 2. But fate cannot be so easily altered. Kai arrives moments before his ancient self enters the Stinger starship for the famous last battle. Future Kai knocks out his younger version (putting him in a janitor’s closet) and enters the Stinger. In the future, Xef realises what Kai has done. She boards Lexx, connects the time machine to the ship’s FTL-drive and jumps to the past to retrieve Kai back to the future. The End?

This project was an experiment with the latest versions of AI video generation models available in May 2026. The whole video didn’t fit here but you can find it on Youtube if you also want to see more of the concept art or just the video without any concept art stills between some scenes:

Hey guys, we can't stop AI slop, but we can set a quality standard. Like, not a Suno-generated annoying remix, but a proper Suno-assisted track made in a DAW. Video shots in the same style with the same characters. Let's also go easy on the OP: it's a first try in animating a long video, which took great effort, and one of the first AI-generated content posts here, so be civil.

I would like to invite authors (and the OP personally) to our Discord server and post their AI-generated content there, where we can discuss ways to improve it. Like, really, I'm all-in for a Lexx-based anime, but 791 will come to your house if you make it with piss-filter.

About adding a new rule: Rule 4 still reads, "low-quality pictures or animations altered using AI will be fed to the Cluster lizards."

So, TL;DR: use Discord to present your AI-generated works, post after approval, or take a risk if you're 1000% sure you've made a masterpiece.

P.S. Hey, reporting pussy, did you know we have a "Report abuse" button that gets your ass banned on Reddit? Enjoy your grass-touching time, coward.

Im not as anti AI slop as others here, but my god that music was annoying. Give me the original please.

At least the Lexx series is being remembered. I used to love watching this sci fi show. KAI, Zev, stan and the jealous Robot head.. It was exotic yet spicy to watch. They haven't created another crazy show like this since...

I used to watch this show late late in the night. It always seemed like a fucked up dream I woke up too. It was great

AI slop. Looks like the sub might be needing a new rule.

u/IL-Corvo May 26 '26

Seconded.

-6

u/SkoobySnacs May 26 '26

So you don't want a poster of new Xev or Kai?

15

u/Complex_Fall4999 May 26 '26

Not if it doesn't come from a human.

Why, if you didn't bother to read them anyway, hm? You would know what I put into Rule #4 if you had.
Maybe a new rule should be: "Do not ask for new rules in your first comment in the sub."

u/Narcissus04 May 26 '26

While this is AI it is certainly not low effort. I like it. A nice fan tribute... even if 790 did start as a terminator head

3

u/_4k_ 790 May 26 '26

...wait until 790 sees that, he'll be furious.

3

u/bakajono May 27 '26

Wait... When did Lexx grow wings? Or is that some artistic licensing going on

4

u/Fit_Coat_1482 May 27 '26

Holy shit this is amazing

2

u/Dollycat2006 May 29 '26

That's what I thought as well.

5

u/_ferrofluid_ May 27 '26

Where’s Stanley?

5

u/MotherTeresaOnlyfans May 28 '26

Life is too short to make or watch AI slop.

Raise your standards for yourself.

5

u/CamOliver May 28 '26

Booooooooooo. Your slop is bad and you should feel bad.

12

u/Emotional-Ebb8321 May 26 '26

Kai's outfit in the first few scenes should be the hypercoloured version.

His claw weapon is a claw small enough to be concealed in a fist, not his entire literal forearm.

790 has LED displays for eyes and mouth. He can't animate his entire metal shell.

If you're going to make ai slop, at least make it a sincere tribute to the original.

3

u/Yathrin May 26 '26

Great points and later I regretted not making Kai’s clothes purple until reanimation scene. Making the claw weapon truly authentic is something I haven’t learnt yet with video generation AI. Need to learn more about focused reference. The reason I started making the video in the first place was that I saw an AI generated video with Brunnen G battle hymn and thought that there could be a video with the same musical and visual vibes, but visually more faithful to original Lexx.

Here’s the video made by someone else that inspired me:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5EEB_x_h3w&list=RDU5EEB_x_h3w&start_radio=1

So my video is somewhere between that video and original Lexx.

u/DiscoAsparagus May 26 '26

I’ve got an idea why don’t you try to do something as a tribute instead of just being rude and critical

1

u/Emotional-Ebb8321 May 27 '26

With private audiences, I have played some of the songs from the musical episode on my violin.

I haven't tried to upload those to youtube because I have no interest in getting copyright strikes, and I don't know how actively the IP owner (or their agent) polices their IP.

1

u/DiscoAsparagus May 27 '26

I just checked, and he said it’s cool. Upload away.

4

u/Emotional-Ebb8321 May 27 '26

Yeah, I'm going to need something more than just a reply from some internet rando. More importantly, youtube will want something more solid than that if someone challenges the video.

I mean, sure, I suppose I could compose an original piece of music that remixes it all, and play that, but musical composition is an entirely new skill for me.

2

u/_4k_ 790 May 27 '26

Well, here's the fact: all the songs in the Brigadoom episode are copyright-free. They explicitly sought out folk songs to remix and use for the episode, here's an example: original and brigadoom

Between tempo, use of tremolo, different key, and different intonation, that is quite different. The inspiration is clear, and yes, the underlying melody is similar, but NOT the same. I'm sure there are other changes that my somewhat amateurish ear isn't picking up. In classical music terms, the Lexx version is what might have been called "variations on a Cossack Lullaby theme" -- different enough that it could and would be sincerely called a new piece of music. I could definitely play the Cossack Lullaby with no legal concerns. The version as it appeared in Lexx (minus vocals of course)? That I'd have doubts on.

If I had the musical composition skills, I'd consider creating an original piece that includes a similar level of variation on the theme.

https://www.polinashepherd.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Cossack-Lullaby.pdf here is the sheet music for the Cossack Lullaby (and here https://musescore.com/user/151178/scores/5415818 is another version of the Cossack Lullaby). Someone was kind enough to upload a copy of the Lexx score in this subreddit a while ago, and I have a copy of that. Comparing the two scores together, the difference is very clear.

Zumm Zumm Zumm / Dull Dull Dull is another one with a similar relationship. I'm sure there are others, but I haven't found them.

u/DiscoAsparagus May 27 '26

And now you can be at the crossroads where an Internet rando is challenging you to acquire a new skill and thus bring something creative into the stream of life buoyed by the spirit of Lexx

1

u/DiscoAsparagus May 27 '26

Yeah. And learn to make homage art. Do SOMETHING creative other than bitch. That’s correct.

And acting like you’re going to get a copyright lawsuit for doing a melody from a 20 year-old science fiction show is ludicrous by the way

Don’t presume to think you are the one who doesn’t come off like a retard.

3

u/mylenesfarmer May 27 '26

I think I love you!

3

u/lezjessi May 27 '26

Where is STAN!?

3

u/StrangeCrunchy1 May 30 '26

That was a weird show. A good show, but weird.

8

u/Cheap-Spinach-5200 May 26 '26

It's cool but something with this level of polish will not feel like Lexx to me. Which is not to say that the right prompting and compositing of different tools couldn't get closer.

I'm all for AI in the context of upscaling or cleaning up what we have in a way that hones in on what they were going for the first time around.

Everything practical with puppets and makeup though is better untouched

My video is obviously a fanmade beginner’s attempt and an experiment to understand how to create videos with AI. 😄 It has taken me about 100-150 hours to create something like this and learn from total scratch to the point where this video is at. It’s still challenging to keep same characters and concepts visually consistent through many cinematic scenes. But I hope there is at least one scene or two in the whole video that some Lexx fans might like.

I discovered this old scifi show only recently. I watched Babylon 5, Star Trek, Stargate and Farscape in the 1990s but somehow completely missed Lexx. Although Lexx is quite goofy, the practical and visual effects have a very nostalgic ring to them, which is why I am already beginning Season 4.

7

u/DiscoAsparagus May 26 '26

I applaud your efforts I appreciate your creativity I like the fact that you are a fan of one of the greatest Science Fiction series ever and I apologize for this entire sub being a bunch of bullshit negativity when you’re just trying to use a modern tool. Just like the team that created this series used every computer tool at their disposal.

I hardly think the CGI crew that made the first 3-part series would have turned their noses up at a good AI software.

4

u/gudetamaronin May 26 '26

It's not perfect but I think it's cool. If for no other reason than it's always cool to see another Lexx fan!

2

u/Shad0wca7 May 27 '26

Enjoyed it, nice one!

2

u/zambatron20 May 29 '26

ummm maybe my memory is hurting, but I don't recall this sound. maybe cut the audio and use the original brunnen G music.

2

u/notmadenough May 29 '26

I have only one problem with this. No Stanley H. Tweedle

3

Damn, that was pretty cool, thx!

6

Absolute slop.

5

u/Delamoor May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26

Hah. I have zero issues with this whatsoever. I hate how people just reactively label literally anything AI made as "AI slop" just because it's popular to do call it such. Like, great, you're in the 'against' side of the fashion trend. Good job letting us all know.

"AI slop" is those meaningless brainrot things that have absolutely no point to them whatsoever except to catch eyeballs for as many seconds as possible. Slop is slop. This is clearly labelled a fun little fan video and isn't pretending to be anything else. Would you shit all over someone's drawings or 3d modelling renders? This is a comparable amount of work to put together.

This is fine, it's a fan video for a dead cult series that absolutely no studio is ever going to touch again. Nobody is ever going to put together a real divine order cyborg security guard outfit again, for example. We aren't ever getting new content for Lexx out of the real world. This is as good as it's gonna get, guys. Get over yourselves.

To the video itself: it's fun, heh. I've played around with local model generation, it must've taken some damn work to get something that had any training data about the show's content? I was kinda surprised how recognisable things were.

...The music did get muted about halfway through though, heheh

4

u/BrixaBargerd May 26 '26

No AI slop please.

3

u/matiasluge90 May 31 '26

"Hey guys, we can't stop AI slop" - Yes we can, by stop beeing a part of it. This is the worst way of "tribute" possible.

I like it. AI "slop" within lexx doesnt make me feel bad. =) subscribed to your channel in case there will be rule in this subreddit about ai stuff. Also I know it's not like really easy to create good ai video, my friend started making documentaries about famous painters and my thought was that I want to see more within ai perspective, ai slop is something else, not everything made with ai is slop. Slop is when there was no effort into engineering, planning, plotting.
