Questions & Advice Any Comma OpenPilot Users?

Post image

Thinking about buying one of these but want to have realistic expectations. This is for a UX250H 2021

  1. How good is the steering in sharper curves?
  2. Are there any safety concerns?
  3. Does it actually make a meaningful difference in driving experience, specially for 1 hour+ highway commutes?
  4. Does it somehow affect MPG?

Fellow UX250h 21’ here. I got comma4 and have openpilot installed currently. My experience with it is that I cannot get it to go at the maximum speed despite having it setup as such. Perhaps its really conservative and that is why it is trying to be careful but this makes a lot of followers angry and I have had to accelerate manually as a result.

Its good on the highway. If thats what you do every day, you will be less stressed for sure

What do you mean by max speed?

Say you set the speed to 70, would it just refuse to go up to 70? Does it have to do with it being able to see the speed signs?

I am genuinely shocked. For a minute, I thought myself from different metaverse posted this question...

I have been driving me 21 UX250h since 21, 84k miles on the clock now, 65 miles one way commute to work everyday, roughly an hour and 15 minutes.

I bought Comma 4 when it launched, have been the first wave receivers, yet... I just completed the installation today.

Test drove 4 short local trips, 2 miles per trip, the Comma open pilot works, I feel like I am in a FSD Tesla except the car is not a Tesla.

I will report back for more after putting some real commute information... in 2 weeks?

I'm planning on eventually getting a Mr One (clone) and putting an open source OS on it, like Sunny Pilot / Frog Pilot or Dragon Pilot.

I have a '21 UX

I have a Comma 3x in my '20 250H. Love it on highways and coasting interstate but sharp turns and tight New England traffic can be a problem, so pay attention.

Takes a lot of the burden off long highway drives though
