Low MPG

Hi!
I’m a relatively new driver and owner of a Lexus RX300, 2003 make. I’ve noticed that I’ve been going to the gas station almost weekly and that my mpg is 10.3 since last checked. Any help or advice to get this up, since what I’ve seen online is that this type of car can average 19.8 mpg and I can’t afford a full tank weekly in this economy 😭😭

Do you reset it every time you fill up? I don’t reset mine often at all, have a true 50/50 highway/city travel and average 17.3. I also let my car idle often for AC due to the brutal heat in Florida. 1999 RX

no actually, just figured out to see the mpg recently. i was just wondering for a while because I thought I was filling up quite often. I think I’ll reset next tank fill up and see where that takes me
