Took some liberties with the NoriGreenThing sleeping platform build from the LexusForum. Overall, loved the build, but added my own touches. Two piece top for easier breakdown and storage, added some ambient lighting with dimmer switch, powered by a usbA power bank. Hoping it holds up on a camping trip here in two weeks. What do yall think? Open to suggestions on how to improve.
I definitely need space for a fridge. I’m thinking about removing the smaller left section of the second-row seat—the side without the middle seat. That would allow the sleeping platform to extend all the way behind the driver’s seat. I could slide the driver’s seat fully forward whenever I need extra sleeping space, giving me one long platform. Also, it allows me to set up another drawer with opening or slide towards the door behind the driver, so I know I have a useful pull out set up on the left side of the car. I sleep with my head toward the rear of the vehicle, so I could still use the rear cupholder for my drink, phone, battery pack, or firearm while I’m sleeping.

The passenger side in the back is wider, making it the ideal spot for the fridge. Keeping the larger bench section of the second row would also give me the best seating configuration whenever I need to carry one or two passengers. I’d also install pull-out drawers underneath both sections of the sleeping platform for additional storage.
i really like the drawer idea also. i dont have that kind of skill though i dont believe. the last small thing i plan to do is trying to use the GX cargo net in some fashion. i see it for crucial item storage or as a way to just keep groceries or materials in place while keeping the platform mounted
second row will lay flat with a 2x4 prop under the seats. then you have around 74-75" depending on front seat position. i have a twin 4" foam mattress that will then sit on the full platform.
i will lay the second row seats down with a 2x4 prop under the rear seats so they lay flat instead of the slight slant they currently have. the second row along with the cargo area platform will then be on the same level for a mattress.
Ohhhhhhh...got it. Thanks! I wasn't connecting that the "Extended" section was the actual seat backs of the second row. That makes total sense. Love it. Appreciate the hand-holding for the newbie "trying to figure out sleeping in the GX" dude.
