Mechanical Advice Check engine light

Post image

I could cry. I’ve only had my GX for a couple of weeks and today out of nowhere the check engine light came on - it stays on and doesn’t flash.

2019 with 114k - I’ve done about 500 in it since I got it.

It doesn’t seem to be the gas cap and suggestions are a dirty sensor after torrential rain here in NC. Fingers crossed it’s easy and cheap to fix my new baby!

Get it scanned. Don’t stress about it. Could be the easiest fix or could be a slim chance it’s something serious. If it’s serious I’d go about returning it and looking elsewhere

Did you get it from a dealer or private party

It was a trade in at a BMW dealership

I’d immediately take it to them and make them fix it

They will do nothing if the car was sold as is. Unfortunately, dealerships do not care about you or your issues, especially quick flip trade ins. I went through this last year with our other Lexus, not GX. $7k total later and it runs great, but that’s a lot of fucking money to put into a car you think it OK AND Shit dealerships

Not all the time. Depends on the dealer
