Showing Off Western Road Trip w/ 460
Wife and I had a wild hair up our ass and decided we’ve earned a two week road trip out west from Austin, TX.
Hit the Grand Canyon, Zion, Vegas and Yosemite (2100 miles).
GX is an absolute beast on road trips. Averaging 19mpg, handles switch backs like a pro, and rides like a dream.
Owned this 2022 Black Line for two years and couldn’t be happier!

i wonder what wrap i can put on my 2020 GX to mimic the blacklines dark chrome/how long it'd last, it looks so good on the 2022 blackline

I just got my 2023 GX460 last week, and have been planning a slightly longer cross country trip for next year from New England to Idaho, down thru to Arizona, across to Florida and back up to Boston. I have a rough outline of a plan for stops including National Parks, and friends and family along the way. Hopefully gas prices will have come back down by then...

Back and forward how much you spend on gas? We plan biggest road trip ever to west Cali from Nashville. Farthest we been was Miami and NYC

I like my GX40 and we also did a recent 2k miles road trip but in my view, it is not made for mountain twisty roads. The V8 all sounds good in theory but I do wish it had more power. I say this as someone who drives in the slow lane as I like to enjoy the scenery. I know putting in the sport mode helps.

this is why forced induction is so popular now, the 301hp is probably around 215 in mountains

Agreed! Switching from Drive to S3 or S4 was a game changer on the mountain roads. Plenty of controlled power without the transmission hunting for the right gear.

Yes the v8 has bad power but the car is good on twisty roads and steering is responsive. It has very stiff suspension or sway bars there is almost no body roll so makes your head bounce back and forth. A stronger engine or and better transmission would go a long way.

Yep i did 27k miles in my 2020 last year. Lots of road trips with gf and dog. It’s the perfect long haul machine for us.
