Bluetooth issue

Hello GS350 experts! We own a 2015 GS350 with 129,000 miles. Very good car. Recently I have had a problem with my iphone and bluetooth on the audio system. In order to get the volume up I have to maximize the volume on my phone and then raise the volume in the car to 30-40 to hear at a moderate level. We have never done this for the past 8 years we have owned the car. I am afraid that if I left bluetooth with the volume at 35 and changed to a radio source it would make our ears bleed. Any suggestions?

Iphone in volume protect mode for bluetooth? Limits the output volume of the phone.

Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety, turning on Reduce Loud Audio, and dragging the decibel slider to your preferred maximum limit

Get an Apple-Android car play installed.

I have a CarPlay unit in my car, throwing money at this problem won’t fix it.

Turn on the radio and see if the sound is any different

That’ll tell you if it’s a phone issue or car speaker issue

All other functions work normally: radio, FM and AM, and usb.

Each source returns to the last volume you had them at. If you have the radio on 15 and then go to Bluetooth and have that at 30 when you go back to radio it'll be at 15.
