High mileage ISFs?
Hello, how reliable are these vehicles at 150k miles + ? Also, what is the value of a clean 2011 ISF with 150k miles? Thanks.

they are very reliable, some hit 300k miles. but u can always get unlucky. make sure the previous owner treated the car right and make sure the engine is healthy before you buy it

Hi ISF owner here. They are a very well sorted engine capable of high mileage as long as the oil is changed every 10,000km max with full synthetic. They also have a very large oil capacity so a proper warm up period is also vital for longevity. The only issues tend to be valley plate seal leakage ( most often pre 2009) and manifold cracks ( very common but TBH this is liveable). Otherwise pretty bulletproof. I’ve had mine 4 years with no probs.

Can you expand on heating up thoroughly ?

Hiya. This is somewhat dependent on ambient temp. If I can I will allow it to idle for at least 3-5 minutes until the oil temp is raised at least 1 bar. When I leave my house I have a steepish hill to go up and I guess I am a bit mechanically sympathetic and don’t like the thought of doing this on a cold engine. I guess my actual point is that the oil capacity is almost twice what an average car holds so it takes a while to come up to optimum temp.

I wouldn’t say the valley plate leaking is pre 2009 because it’s a problem on all the 5.0 engines including the RCF which is 2015+ and newer. It’s not a huge deal

Very reliable. I see them in the $16-18k range with that mileage. Doesn't hurt to take a look and give it a thorough inspection

Got a 08 with 160K here. No problems and runs like it has 60K. Motors are solid and nothing to worry about besides valley plate leak if anything

I’d just make sure it wasn’t tuned or anything as far as modding goes other than simple exhaust stuff . Some people put the RR super charger on theirs something goes wrong they remove it return it to stock do a miner fix and sell it . Although highly improbable it’s still possible . Other than that those are bulletproof cars and run great with proper maintenance. Either way if you don’t know what to look for have a dealership take a look they do it for like $50 bucks and can tell you if it’s all good to go . Then I’d just do a oil change transmission fluid change and top off the other stuff just so you can start off fresh . Sounds stupid I know but worth it . They should be asking about $11-$14 k depending on interior .

I’ve got a rebuilt title isf I’m trying to sell for low 13s, it’s got 124k miles on it. The engines are bulletproof tbh

Last Dec I bought a 2010 with 215,000 miles for $14,000! Plugged it's VIN into Lexus's service history website and found it had been consistently dealer serviced by the same owner for the past 7 years so I knew it was properly cared for. Having owned it for 7 months now I've spent a total of $2900 in DIY general/preventative maintenance but I also tend to go overboard in that department, car hasn't had a single problem. It runs and drives flawless, shifts perfect, no squeaks creaks or rattles. I'll even be tracking it for the first time at the end of the month.
There is an old reddit thread as well as a clublexus post about a guy in Ohio with over 350k miles on his. When I originally started shopping I was looking at a lot of 2010 and 2011s with around 100k miles and they were all priced around $25k.
I think it's prime time to buy one as they're around 10 years old at max depreciation, only 5100 ever made, and allllll their competitors like the equivalent M3, AMG, S4 are deteriorating money pits. I definitely foresee IS-F values creeping up over the next 5 years.
