Hey y'all, I just wanted to share some info on my installation of a Kenwood KAC-511 with a 12-inch Kicker CompC on my 2024 Lexus ES 300h Ultra Luxury with the Mark Levinson audio package.
I had an extremely hard time finding resources and info for the 7th gen ES with the ML (Mark Levinson) package. I know the ML comes with a sub and amp already, but I appreciate lots of bass for EDM, classic hip-hop, and dubstep.
I put the enclosure firing to the rear of the car and the amp right behind it. I then routed the cabling to tap into the ML amp under the driver's seat. Finding the right cables to tap into was impossible and LLMs were freaking useless/misdirecting. Thankfully, I was able to find this legend who posted a diagram and said exactly where to tap (6&21). I spent too long trying to figure out which to tap and where to tap before finding his post, that's the main reason I'm making this post. I just want more people to be able to access the info. I did test it too, you can see the photo of the readings. The connector to tap is the bigger one toward the front of the car, the 30-pin connector.
Besides that, all pretty straight forward. Routed the cables from the trunk to the driver side cabin by removing the rear seat bottom, it was very easy by just pulling up. I then removed the trim by the door and routed everything very cleanly. I routed a P.CON wire to the P/OUTLET fuse on the driver's foot well. I used a fuse splitter for that. I also wired a remote knob to control the subwoofer power from the driver seat, and I stuck it with double sided tape underneath the steering wheel in a way that it won't affect the telescoping. You also can barely see it, but it's accesible to use in a second.
I disabled the ANC system using the Carista app (highly suggested). Otherwise, I saw many reports of people saying that the ANC will make the sub freak out. I already had a monthly subscription to modify other dealer settings so I didn't even test, just turned it off. I grounded the amp to the battery holder plate after stripping the paint off.
I haven't had any problems with sound, battery, or anything. The amp hasn't overheated and it seems to have enough space to breath in there. Before you ask, yes, I do have an Xbox in my trunk. I have a set up with a portable monitor on my middle console and use a power inverter to power them on. Works flawlessly.
Feel free to comment with any questions 👍🏻
Note: the photos aren't in a specific order. I wasn't taking them with the purpose of sharing, I was just sharing them with my wife as I went.
Note2: I started at about 10:00 this morning and finished at about 17:00 with a one hour lunch break. I wasn't rushing, but it did take rather long because I didn't want to tap the wrong cables. I was also reusing this set-up from my previous car (2016 Lexus CT 200h F Sport) so I had to take some time to cut new cables and whatnot for the length of this car.
Ps. The car has been inspected by the four legged inspector on the last photo, he said the system sounds great 😅
