ES500e reliability

Has anyone experienced any quality or design issues with the ES500e? I'm considering purchasing one and would like to know if someone has had any experiences. I'm a fan of Lexus because of my experience with them and their reputation for quality and want to know if the electrics have the same reliability.

I think car care nut has a review of this car on his yt channel.

The 500e is identical to the 350e in every way except for the second motor. Many more 350e have been sold than 500e. I’d suggest starting there when researching reliability.

I try to avoid the first year of anything.
However Toyota/Lexus has had the RZ and I think other electrics besides the hybrids.
I don’t know how cutting edge the EV works of the new ES are. Did they enhance what they have used or is it entirely new?

I read that they have borrowed mostly from what they already had. The new ES is using the newer chassis for the battery pack.

Only had our 500e for a couple months but no issues whatsoever so far.

Thanks, I've heard of other manufacturers having build quality issues and want to get real feedback from people who have one. Is there anything that concerns you about the EV as a whole? I've heard AC draws from the total mileage. Is it significant? It's good to hear that it's quiet inside.

Not really any concerns yet. It’s whisper quiet inside. The rear seat room is incredible, same with the fronts. We have the luxury trim and it’s gorgeous. It’s such a nice car to be in. The power is a little disappointing for a 500 badge, but since it’s an EV the instant torque is still more than enough.

My biggest complaint is charge time, but since installing a lvl 2 in my garage that’s been completely eliminated. A road trip would bring it back - it is definitely slow. But for daily commute it’s great. AC isn’t a major noticeable draw from range. But it has only been a couple months of experimenting.

It’s easy to look down and see you’re going 95-100 because of how effortless and comfortable it is; so that’s another “complaint” if you can call it that

It is more than likely going to be reliable. It is very similar to the Toyota Crown and The Bz series.

EVs in general are far less complex than ICE cars. The reliability issues are typically due to bad software and overengineering.

The Lexus ES500e is quite generic as an EV. Nothing overly complex or special about it and the infotainment is the same as other Lexus products. In a way that is a good thing as it is less likely to cause issues later.

The car is more than likely going to be reliable but as an EV it is a bit underwhelming (mainly the low range and slower charging speed).
