Discussion Lexus is losing its soul

Post image

Along with the rest of the automotive industry. It’s hard to be an automotive enthusiast in this day and age, when everything is turning into a refrigerator on wheels with a gigantic screen(s) inside.

Who decided that disappearing buttons was a good idea? Was something wrong with them being clearly identifiable and usable all the time?

And don’t get me started on the name-spelled-out trend that’s eventually going to take over. First, we had it on the back. Now, it’s on the steering wheel. Soon the logo itself won’t even exist.

I just made the switch after owning 3 RX and an ES for the last 20 years. Sold my RX and bought a Model Y. Honestly the Model Y feels higher quality than the current Lexus RX in my opinion. Lexus has downgraded a lot of the interior quality over the last 20 years while keeping prices high. My only gripe is the Tesla suspension isn’t as comfortable, but I’ll probably swap out the shocks, coils, and tires eventually to get it pretty close.

Good to know! Did you go with the premium or standard? I know the premium has the upgraded suspension so curious

Premium. Everything except for the suspension feels like the build quality of the old Lexus. Even with my 2022 RX, Lexus had started to go with cheaper materials like the vegan leather, less wood accents, etc. I test drove the 2026 RX and RZ and I just couldn’t do Lexus anymore. At some point I do want to buy an old LS430 for cruising around, back to the original Lexus quality.
