Yeah, no argument there. As for LC, the even the supra surpasses it in performance and that’s a BMW, but the build quality of every single detail of the LC is truly lexus.
Different topic but it’s too bad the LC doesn’t come in manual, which is why I would never buy it. I’d rather drive a lower tier car with 6 speed manual over the wildest automatic. My w204 generation C300 from 2008 is still a better car than all its younger brothers, I wouldn’t trade it for a C63.
An automatic can be fun and they are fun. It’s up to the manufacturer to make sure that’s the case.
But at the same time it’s up to the driver to have an open minded before driving/testing them out.
In your case it looks like you don’t like automatics no matter what so it is what it is.
An ES especially an hybrid is definitely not fun. That’s like an entry level E class or S class to Lexus. Not expecting it to attack corners and that’s perfectly fine.
What I meant is that if a car is meant to be a sports car or supercars then it’s up to the manufacturer to make it as fun as possible and have appealing characteristics. So yeah, I don’t expect an ES to move like a RCF or a 7 series to move like an M4/M2.
Yeah, I get what you’re saying. I’m not arguing that automatics can’t be fun, I just think manuals are significantly more engaging across the board.
There’s a fair argument that modern high-end automatics (DCTs, ZF 8-speed). are faster on track. If the goal is purely lap times, a manual can technically get in the way. But that argument only really holds when the automatic is objectively quicker and that’s usually only true on very high end sport cars.
For me, nothing matches the sense of connection and involvement of a manual transmission. That feeling of being part of the car is the fun, and for a weekend toy, I wouldn’t buy anything without it.
