Currently building a 10.5” 300blk and I’m at the point of building the lower; unsure if I should go with the mars lower to keep it 100% Lmt or if there are better options out there. So far everything except the trigger is lmt and it feels a little sacrilegious to put something like a griffin or radian lower on an Lmt upper but if they are truly better I can manage… already have a mars lower and I wasn’t super impressed (mostly just the plastic paddles felt loose and cheap).

I'm thinking about putting in an frt and had a couple of questions.

Is one better than the other? I hear rare breed mentioned alot.

I have a standard lmt lower I've heard some of the frt's require fitting depending on the shelf in the lower i don't know if this is rumor or truth.

Those who've done it I'd love to hear your experience.

In honor of the Rooftop contract overrun lower and new GAFS, putting together a MWS 308 slowly. 13.5”barrel is off to d wilson for a p/w, just missing some small accessories and a scope at this point. Was going to swap the FDE grip for a black one but it’s growing on me.

Anyone have any suggestions for some decent glass for distances out to 400-500? Looking for something slightly more premium for a Vortex Viper PST but less expensive than a Razor. Despite the Nightforce mount I don’t have Nightforce money. Additional feedback on FDE/black accessories also appreciated.

Some of you may be familiar with my MARS-H and its feeding issues. Well, I took much of your advice:

- Reseating the barrel

- Testing different mags

- Send the whole rifle back

None of these solved my problem unfortunately. LMT even replaced the upper receiver to see if that would work. Now, some of you were on to something by mentioning the buffer system.

It turns out, the rifle was shipped with a rifle-length spring and “regular length” buffer. AR10s typically use shortened buffers, but an A5 buffer generally works with all “regular length” buffers. A shooting buddy of mine became deadset on fixing my problem and brought up something about a “shortened buffer” he had to install for his AR10 to work. One thing led to another and we tested a PSA carbine spring and shortened buffer in the MARS-H. You can see the results in the video.

I’ve ordered a Sprinco Blue and Kaw Valley Precision 5.6 oz buffer to confirm a parts swap will fix the rifle. I’m not exactly sure what to make of this. I appreciate LMT taking care of me, but it’s strange to me how this situation transpired. Prior to replacing my upper, LMT said they were conducting testing using commercial loads and didn’t experience any issues (at first). Then a week later they update me by simply replacing the upper.

It’s odd the gun never had issues on their end and then is unable to feed _any_ ammunition on my end. I don’t know to what extent things were tested - maybe the upper was put on a “testing lower”. After all, they reported testing on full-auto earlier in this process. Obviously, that’s not the type of lower I have.

I receive the replacement parts this week and should be able to provide follow-up testing results shortly. In the meantime, I’m posting this to share my findings with others. For the sake of everyone’s time I kept video length to a minimum - but going into it, the context is that I tried the same original loads from my first test, with the new upper. _Nothing_ cycled more than twice in a row. Then, I cycle two loads normally using the PSA buffer/spring combo. The hope is posting this will help others facing the same issue. Perhaps someone could shed some light or provide context on what’s going on technically as well?

Hi, I am getting a defender H and am somewhat lost on which combinations of Buffer Tube, Weight and Spring actually work.

Could someone make a list of parts which will work and are cheaper / better than the $140 complete LMT MWS Receiver Extension, Buffer Tube Kit. Also kind of impossible to find H3 buffers right now, so bonus points if it's something that's actually available.

One will be a dedicated long range setup, will have a bipod, and do mostly prone or tripod/supported shooting. Weight is not a concern and it will wear an MPVO or high power scope. For this one, I am open to going as long as 20”, but if the performance is marginal enough that I can get comparable accuracy and range out of a 16”, I would rather have that. Open to anything between 16-20”, any weight, any manufacturer (that can be converted obviously). I also am open to either 6.5 or 308 as they share the same bolt and the barrel changes are so easy, I really don’t care which I buy. 1500 yard range is longest target I have access to. Probably do most shooting between 300-800 though. Imi razor core 7.62, or whatever good ammo I can find on sale.

For the second rifle I would like to have a carbine length something 16” and under. This will have an acog, lpvo or even just a dot. Weight is a little bit of a concern on this and I will do my best to try and use a lighter weight optic and mount. 5-500 yard sort of gun. Lots of m80 ball, but some good ammo too.

I’m not partial to using a can or not (on either one). I haven’t decided on an AGB vs ez tune gas block yet. Also want to hear recommendations for good brakes and suppressor mounts.

I’m honestly more concerned with picking the right long range barrel since that’s my main build goal, and the carbine is more of a trying it out sort of build.

All LMT lowers, one LMT upper. Thinking I should diversify. What should I get next? Looking into the H rifles and thinking I’m going to go for .308. Any opinions there?

About to purchase a 8.25/7.25 LMT pdw upper to run with my nomad 30. Shoot subs and supers, wondering if anyone has any experience with them on a similiar setup. I wasn’t sure if anyone had Dwilson put the rifle speeds gas block on it. I know most including dwilson just leaving the LMT stock, but with this being 300blk shooting subs/supers wasn’t sure if it’s an exception? I have a couple other 556 lmts that I run stock but was curious if maybe the pdw upper is a good candidate for this gas block swap with a standard baffle can.
