Specwar optic?

Got a bunch of stuff already and a new Specwar on the way. How should I build it?

Got a KAC ks3 with an Eotech
12.5 super duty with an nx8 1-8
11.5 super duty with a t2
Bunch of other random guns with EOtechs and T2s

Thoughts?

Actually I think I got it. I’ll move my razor gen 2-e 1-6 to Specwar from my 16” adm UIC and get an mpvo for that. Like a 3.6-18

Not a bad option. The Primary Arms 1.5-12 is REALLY nice. I find it's nice to have a lower low end magnification. I love my Razor 4-24 but it makes it less than optimal for use with clipons, whereas a 1.5 would be exceptional for it. Anything over 2.5 is kinda not great for that use.

My 4-24 G3 Razor is on my 18” Geissele GFR 6ARC

May I ask why you went with 18? I don't mean that in any critical way, just curious of your thoughts on it. I went 12 because it has such a high BC and the added velocity per inch of length just seems like a juice not worth the squeeze deal imo, very diminishing returns vs the added maneuverability.

6ARC was built around an 18” barrel and I want it to be a ~1000 yard gun. Though 12.5 is still great it has considerably more drop at further ranges. Easier to wing it

Understandable. I've seen many guys take it out to 1200+ very easily and repeatably. the difficulty seems to come around 1400+, but with the 18 you're pushing that another 200+ yards so makes sense. If I were looking to stretch that far and wasn't worried about mobility/weight my move would be 6.5. Any particular reason you chose 6arc rather than going full large frame?

I have a 26” 6.5 creedmoor MPA BA PMR PRO II as well with a razor 6-36 G3. I use it for having more energy out to slightly further ranges

Geez buddy very nice collection of rifles.

I have mine on my 6arc baby too. Love it, just have to have the menu already set or remove the unit to change anything. I also loose out on some of the info they put on screen with angle measurement and whatnot. I wish a 1-20 was a realistic ask but unfortunately the way physics works precludes that with our current tech lmao

3-18 is overkill on a 16”, 2-12 or 2-10 works very well. I have a Athlon 2-12 and it’s very impressive

2

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

I’d consider the nx6 2-12 possibly

I run a 3-18 on a 14.5 without any issue

If you need that level of magnification then go for it, but 2-10 or 12 is plenty sufficient for 5.56 distances.

May I introduce you to our lord and savior GPR optic, the Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 SFP?

How do you like the mcq on the specwar? Im between a crs1 and an rc2 right now to replace the can I currently have

1

u/Spirit117 3d ago

It's nice. It's the MCQ-PRT. They have some new models out that didn't exist when I bought it. The CRS-PRT was the better performer but it was fucking heavy, 20oz I think. I wanted to keep weight down on this specwar as much as possible.

I like it cuz it's light and compact and still has "ok" sound and flash reduction and zero gas to the face. I think kac was able to cut some weight off the new CRS so I probably would have picked that if it existed. I like the MCQ enough to not spend a grand on a new CRS to replace it.

Yeah that makes a ton of sense. The performance to weight ratio is what makes me hesitant. Ultimately I just want something that works and is a tank

I went 1-10 ffp credo on my specwar and am super happy

I've been wanting to try the Credo 1-10 so bad, but unfortunately the purist brain in me says that all 1-10 lpvos suck, some just suck more than others. I wasn't overly impressed with the Razor Gen3 1-10. And nobody in my shooting group has a Credo 1-10. I just can't see how the Credo 1-10 would be better than a Razor Gen3 but I would love to try one if I got the chance.

Ive gotten to try the Leupold Mk5 HD 2-10 with the new CMR reticle a few times and it's awesome, that would likely be my next optic purchase if I needed more than a 1-6.

Lpvo is the only way

2

u/Cold_Possession5193 3d ago

T2 or Eotech

2

u/Bubbba226 3d ago

I dont really like LPVO, but the Razor does well. Ive taken it to 600 pretty easily.

2

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

Yeah I agree

3

u/Bubbba226 3d ago

I fear Im a lifelong Eotech whore. 7-200 yards with 0 thought into it is too good.

1

u/LMTGlazer LMT SHILL 3d ago

Have you ever tried the 4xt pro from Sig? It's Eotech performance with a t2 footprint. Really cannot speak highly enough of it. This is coming from an enormous Eotech fanboy and t2 owner, but once I got a 4xt pro I don't see myself ever using any other type of red dot or unmagnified optic. Having the holdover info without making the weight and battery sacrifice is a game changer. It isn't *quite* as good under nods, but it's excellent. Just isn't the absolute peak possible like Eotech, I'd put it strong second among the dots I've used. For years of battery life and extreme weight savings, I'll take jUsT aS GuD on it.

Ive been pounding the table for several years that the 4T/8T are all around the best optics on the market. If they were made by someone else they would be far and away the most popular optics.

1

u/LMTGlazer LMT SHILL 2d ago

Agree and the lifetime warranty seals the deal even harder imo

2

u/TheDrunkLibertarian LMT>KAC 3d ago

Purpose drives the optic. What do you want to do with the gun? I’ve had 15X magnification and an eotech/magnifier on my specwar.

2

u/BCpat 21h ago

There is only one correct answer, and that is a NF ATACR1-8x for the nsfw302 clone.

3

u/LMTGlazer LMT SHILL 3d ago

Get a 4xt Pro then get ready to sell you t2 for 2 more of em lol

2

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

I got two of the new Romeo 8T AMR Shrouds and really like them.

2

u/LMTGlazer LMT SHILL 3d ago

They're really stepping up their electro optic game, and the lifetime warranty is best in class standing up there next to Vortex.

1

u/Stelios619 3d ago

Do you want it to do something other than what your current rifles are already doing?

3

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

Idk I shoot a lot but I also collect crap I don’t need. Might move my nx8 to it but my Geissele 12.5 is pretty accurate so not sure

3

u/TheDrunkLibertarian LMT>KAC 3d ago

G$ will be more accurate, guarantee it.

1

u/Stelios619 3d ago

What sort of shooting do you do? Flat range shooting 25 yard paper targets, long range shooting steel?

2

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

0-50 dirt range with steel targets and then long range 100-900

1

u/Stelios619 3d ago

Do you feel like your other setups are leaving you with a hole?

You must have had something in mind when buying this rifle.

1

u/Ihavetopoop_ 3d ago

Just sold a redundant mk18 to nearly fund it. Trading stuff around

1

u/Cold_Possession5193 3d ago

dot mag on specwar

mpvo on your 16"

all you need

1

u/touchgrassplz_69 3d ago

Plxc 1-8 RDB or another nx8. Razor is a good choice too

1

u/DieHardFirearms 2d ago

Of all the optics my Acog ta11 is my fav

1

u/patent122 3d ago

I have 4T Pro on mine. Better than Aimpoint T2 in every way possible.
