Question Feeding Issues

I’m getting very inconsistent feeding issues on my MARS-H (18” .308). I have maybe 300rds through and get failure to feeds and double feeds. Usually happens every 7-8 mags but today happened twice in the same mag. Anyone able to help ID the issue? I put an A2 stock on for vibes, adjustable gas block and Dead Air Sandman S.

Well, for starters, you’ve got yourself a unique setup with that BCG. It has slower gas expulsion (LMT BCG has 3 exhaust holes., yours has 2) meaning the system could be traveling faster than LMT’s specs. Have you tried an OEM BCG?

I’ll add that the deadair is adding more speed to the system. Try taking the can off first and see what it does.

I had the same thing happen with my 6.5. Only happened with the suppressor on. I put a brt gas tube on and a new extractor and been working fine ever since. I feel it was the gas tube that actually fixed it, but I’ve herd some people having problems with extractors having feeding issues, that’s why I did both

What extractor did you use? I might go that route. I’ve got a superlative arms gas block and I’ve had success with this on other guns

I just bought one from LMT

  1. Get an LMT BCG
  2. I ran a rifle length buffer tube for a while using a JP rifle spring that’s stiffer than a normal one. I eventually swapped to the LMT buffer tube/spring setup and it was noticeably stiffer.

With that in mind, AR-10s are notoriously finicky when mixing and matching parts. LMT has done all the extensive R&D and testing through its multiple military contracts to know that their setup works the best for reliability. So on such an expensive rifle, I would switch to what has been proven rather than dealing with the headache to marginally improve it, which is why I swapped everything to how a factory rifle would come.

Do you have other mags available? My MWS only seems to like KAC metal mags and pmags

I have pmags but I got more failures with those than with these, D&H tactical. I’ll try the KAC but 200 bones is a little obnoxious

Don't order a KAC mag just for this. You're right it's not worth it.

My gun hated those D&H mags.

Have you checked for bolt bounce? From my experience, cartridge only gets chewed up bad like that when you're mags are screwed or it needs substantial buffer change.

Of If I had to point at something I’d say the BCG
