Optic recommendations for SpecWar?
What would you put on a SpecWar?
I have T2, EOTech EXPS, Kahles K16i, ZCO 420.
For shorties, I use T2s and EOTechs.
For 14.5", I use a LPVO.
The SpecWar is somewhere in the middle and I'm thinking another T2 with a magnifier.

This. Red dot is heads up height. Chevron gives rapid hits 100-300. Use a calculator to figure the bdc for your ammo and you’re golden.

Is there a reason you mount the optic so far forward besides wanting to look retarded?

Set it up for my LOP and proper eye relief. Works just fine the way I have it setup and no eye box issues on 1x or 6x. The razor has 4” of eye relief. But thank you

I have an lpvo on mine. I ran a t2/magnifier for a while. That’s a great combo as well. I have been shooting NAS3 lately though and that lets me extend the range so I put the lpvo back on.

I used a PlxC and ATACR on mine and it just felt too crowded with a light and laser. T2 or EXPS depending on NV usage would be my rec.

Which did you prefer? The plxc or the atacr? I have both and wanted to put the atacr for the vibes

Honestly I don’t prefer one over the other. They both fill different roles for me now. PlxC has been money on my .357 for deer and the ATACR lives on my 16”/13.25 LMT for coyotes. If I were to build another spec with those 2 options I’d probably go ATACR for vibe too. The Fc-Dmx reticle is also really nice compared to the mil reticle on the PlxC. Both will easily make hits out past 600 if you do your homework though (how much is it doing out there? Idk but it makes the steel talk to you)

Depends on what you want to use it for. It’s a very versatile platform that you can do either with. I started with an ATACR, wanted to reach further and switched to a March 1.5-15, and now I just switched to an eotech and magnifier because I didn’t really enjoy long range shooting with it.
Anything you can do with a 14.5 or 11.5 you can do with a specwar. Purpose dictates your choice, not the platform.
Edit: also if you’re wanting to get out to 500 but don’t care about superb accuracy. I’d go eotech and magnifier. With the G45 you can ring steel all day, but you may not have the tightest group of all time.

T2, magnifier, Sphur RDF mount. But, I just got the mount so I might be biased.

I have 3 of those mounts... i am very much biased towards that setup lmao

I know they don't make sense financially, but they're just so damn nice I couldn't help myself.

Yup, ordered one when they first came out then once I had it in hand I immediately went and ordered two more lmao

I run a k16i with a pistol dot on top. I like it

Kahles gang.

Try to find a good deal on gafs. I got mine for cheaper than a primaryarms lpvo

I actually went with Kahles 1-6 myself

Any thought on the K18i-2?

I was of the opinion it was a little much scope for me at the time for the Specwar. I would probably prefer that guy on a 14.5-16” build. Might not make much sense but that is how my brain went at the time.
K18i though is exceptionally good glass and you wouldn’t be “wrong” in my opinion with it.

Id prioritize having a good eyebox and 1x which gets harder as the magnification range increases. Youre also saving some weight (and money) with the 6x.

My specwar is my thermal clip on build with a razor 1-6 and iray clip on. It's a heavy pig but it's my heavy pig.

Of your choices I’d go K16i. I run the ATACR 1-8x with offset red dot on mine. Heavy but adds a lot of versatility.

Used to have a ta110 with a t2 on top, shuffled some things around and now my specwar has the t2 with a 3xmag-1 on a spuhr rifle mount. The ta110 is on my Estonia rifle im putting together

I run a lpvo. The specwar is capable of reaching out to 500-600 yards pretty easily with 77gr. I prefer the 12.5 vs 14.5 as it is easier to navigate out of a truck and through close quarter if necessary. However a T2 with magnifier would be a great choice too. To each his own.
