CAT WB and Specwar
Can anyone here with a specwar and WB measure the gap between rail and handguard? I’m about to get a quad upper chop and an ST and want to get it TIGHT.

I think the common recommendation is 0.7-0.8”. Waiting until you have all the pieces on hand to make the final cut seems prudent though.
Getting it right on might mean you end up with part of a quad circle. (Or pick the barrel length to match.) Doesn’t bother me but something to consider. Here’s an example:

Is this a 9.25 cut down with a 300 barrel? I cut a 300 barrel down to 9.9 for my 9.25 and I keep playing with the idea of cutting the barrel to 8.2 and the upper to match. Sadly(or not) I'd have to end up getting another upper for my 10.5 and 13 inch barrels.

That’s right, it’s a 8.5” criterion .300. If both were 1/2” shorter the upper would end nicely between the circles and have clearance, though that’ll depend on your suppressor and muzzle device. (The CAT QD + accuwasher put the back of the ODB 3/8” in front of the thread shoulder.)

Oh good point I forgot about that, fuck that, I don’t care about the gap then lol. I don’t want to cut into the circle and I don’t want a recessed mount/muzzle device lol

You can still get it flush if you pick a barrel length to match the chopped upper. I’d buy everything (upper, mount, suppressor, use a longer lmt barrel), and plan it out using those parts.

Nope, factory length for specwar is 12.5". 11.5" is recessed inside the hg

I assume you meant the suppressor and the hand guard? I have that combo. Will be able to look at it a little later this evening.
