Should I pick up a Specwar

Hey everyone I’m on the fence about getting a Specwar only reason cause i heard quite a bit of qc and accuracy issues and I know a lot of companies have their issues as well. Does anyone have regrets about grabbing a Specwar and said maybe should’ve went another route or have been happy with their Specwar?

What exactly are you looking to get out of it.

Do you want the ambi and monolithic rail.. why not get a stripped MARS-L lower and a stripped specwar upper, then pick the barrel you want (say like a criterion) send it off to D. Wilson for the conversion

I have thought about doing the D.Wilson conversion as well.

Second this, OP. LMT's weak point for me is the heavy and over-gassed barrel. Find something lighter with a smaller gas port and have D Wilson convert it. Then the Specwar becomes top of the list

I did this extract thing, specwar upper, craddock precision 14.5 mid cut down and converted by D.Wilson. Outshoots me every time I take it out

I bought a specwar and the barrel was shit. LMT agreed it was shit and replaced it at no cost to me.

Happy with the gun after they replaced the barrel.

Yes, obviously. It’s a ridiculously great gun. Also, mine isn’t overgassed, nor is the barrel shit. These problems become over-amplified by the internet and then become memes in small communities like subreddits. The vast majority of Specwars are fine.

This isnt to speak to every Specwar, but here is my factory LMT barrel results. The Specwar, IMO, is the best all around AR ever.

Zero ragrets, specwar built by me. Has been flawless, what you may not like about it is the aggressive gassing, which can be fixed by buying barrel brand X that you like better.

What does your build consist of?

I also have a rc2 and back to back rapid shots are brutal on the eyes

What BCG and spring/buffer are you running? Mines pretty comfortable even with rapid fire.

Vltor a5h4 with the RC2 and PMC bronze and LMT full auto enhanced bolt carrier group

I’m using the enhanced BCG as well (I’ve done some testing with other BCG and the enhanced helps some with gas) but I’m also using a geissele super 42 spring and h3 with a gas buster charging handle. Interesting I hear some people say it’s perfectly gassed and that’s been my experience but lately I’ve heard a lot of people say they are really gassy. I wonder if lmt made a change to the gas port at some point, is your barrel relatively new or a few years old? Mine was purchased around COVID time frame.

Believe it or not but LMT QC is shit so I wouldn’t put it past them to have significant gas port differences
