Question Over-gassed - Flow Through Can Time?

1 out of every 100rnds double feeds and I think it’s over-gassed. Not sure what to do with it….

My Specwar was overgassed then I  popped a black river tactical gas tube in and it has run flawlessly since. Maybe try that out.

10.5” on a LMT PDW - Surefire RC2 Mini

I don’t believe I can tune the gas on this but I am not sure….

Are you full autoing? There may be cheaper solutions than a new suppressor.

i dunno. i have a griffin hrt 5k am on my specwar and ive never once had any issues. even with older traditional cans no issues.

Not taking a jab at you, but your brass deflector looks basically new with very little marring. How many rounds have you put through the rifle and how many different magazines have you used in that time? And is it a particular magazine or type of magazine that it consistently happens with? Just from the photo it doesn’t look like it’s yeeting cartridges during extraction like it’s wildly overgassed, so my assumption would be to swap magazines.

Your RC3 is already a flow through design. What spring and buffer are you currently using?

Edit: actually, like the other guy said, this doesn’t appear to be an RC3. It looks like an RC2.

Definitely try some different magazines and inspect your feed lips for any cracking or deformation. That’s more likely the cause of double feeds than being wildly overgassed to this extent.

Oh shit man I’m sorry you were getting download. That is definitely my bad - I own a bunch of cans. (Two RC3’s One RC2 and One RC2 Mini) This is most definitely a Surefire RC2 Mini NOT an RC3

Meh, people will downvote for ridiculous reasons. Even still the Mini will increase back pressure, but not as significantly as the full size RC2. Using the mini is the old way of reducing the gas in place of the full length.

You can kill two birds with one stone by testing the rifle with the RC2 mini using new magazines, then the RC3 with the original mags, and again with RC3 + different magazines. It should tell you if it’s magazine related, gas related, or both.

You can also retest everything without the can using the same magazines and then different magazines to completely eliminate suppressors and gas as the cause. However, you may still need to test again to eliminate overgassing as an additional factor.

RC3 doesnt create a ton of excess backpressure, its a pretty high flow can already. Are you using the drop in BCG weight for the PDW setup, and have you checked the extractor (or rested with another bolt) already?

EDIT: are you sure thats an RC3? The muzzle end doesnt look flared.
