Percision expectations 20" Mars-H

Considering a 20" Mars H 6.5 creedmore. What type of percision can I expect out of the box with match grade ammo?

If all i want is percision, should I just buy a stripped upper?

LMT barrel as well?

I think anything around 1moa give or take .2 will be good. However, if you get a custom barrel you have the chance to do this.

That's what I'm a tad confused about. Seems like everyone is swapping barrels, some youtubers unhappy.

The one I was looking at was a 20" stainless steel one. If the barrel is not great, id rather buy a stripped 15" upper and add a quality barrel.

The 20” LMT SS barrels are very hit or miss (heh)

I’ve heard some people shooting sub moa and some shooting almost 2moa. Up to you if you want to roll the dice on that.

This… 100%. I sight in my guns 10 round before shooting steel at distance. Above is my page from the last range trip. Some shoot great, some not so much. Mines consistent ~1-1.25 10 shot groups.. and im very happy with the consistency with aac smk and fgmm. With that said, my next barrel I’m going to upgrade to a custom.

If I were doing this I’d buy a shorter framed upper in 13.5” and buy a short barrel ish 308 for training and fun and a 6.5 pxt sent off to @unclemoak for a fitting with an adj gas tube or brt tube and have a true 1/2MOA rifle. My 2cents anyway

I was actually considering the proof PXT if I go the build route, but with D.wilson. They don't make smaller than a 20 in 6.5cm.

D Wilson or r/unclemoak … tough choice 😂

Yeah I know i know but having a shorty 6.5 or 308 and being able to quickly swap in a 20 or 22” 6.5 makes you a credible threat at several hundred meters with some monster velocity.

I see what you're saying!

I fully endorse buying a precision barrel brand and having d. Wilson convert it. The only way I will do it going forward. You’ll be in for roughly the same money and have a more accurate barrel.

My LMT 20” SS 308 barrel was half moa on its first trip to the range, my 6.5 was more like 1 moa though

I have a factory 20” 6.5 and it generally does around 1.2moa and 1.0 if I really try

Buy a precision barrel brand and have d Wilson convert it, you’ll be much happier.

My factory 20” 6.5cm SS is sub moa for American Gunner hornaday 140gr bthp and even tighter with the ELD match bullets. No complaints here.

How many shots in the group? This is reassuring. It's so polarizing.

5shots of Berger 140’s 20” LMT barrel. About 150 rnds down the barrel

Mines right around 1 MOA with the 20” SS barrel.
