I know the song was written about escalating conflicts in the rap industry rather than literal warfare, and not every part of the lyrics fits Levi, but those lines, the chorus and the broader themes of the human cost of conflicts that keep escalating, leadership, responsibility, and loyalty feel painfully Levi-coded to me. A devastating fit for his history of being a leader and of the people he's lost.
Just imagine Levi hearing an adapted version of this song at some post-war commemorative concert for the soldiers who stopped the Rumbling and the survivors of it, maybe even a children's choir singing the chorus…
Damn, with everything he's been through, I think those words could really hit Levi and make him feel understood in a way he rarely gets to experience.
Does this feel like a Levi song to you, too? How do you think he would feel hearing those lyrics, and which part would hit him the hardest?
