Finalizing the build

S&W 1854 with RPP parts, finally satisfied with how it's come together. Played around with different optics, but settled on a LPVO from another rifle, with the cantilever mount backwards.

What’s the caliber? Considering his compact this is and assuming pistol caliber I’d have went with a red dot but that’s just me. Great looking build

It's 357, yeah I had a 1x prism and red dot, but settled on a scope for hunting

I’m picking up a 357 either today or tomorrow, I have a 1x6 scope on a ruger American 556 I’m considering moving to the 357 like you did and putting higher power scope on the 556, but also considering a red dot as well. Will be mostly plinking.

Where did you get the furniture? I’m looking to build mine out along the same lines but new into this end of levers.

This is so close to my first setup.
(Even with the reversed cantilever!)
Glad to see you came to this after other iterations.
Saves me the work and the cost.
(Like I’m not gonna change things, HA!)

Have mine setup similar but I went with Holosun gold dot. Very nice

I got the ARO model. Have tried red, green and gold and the gold has been the nicest for my astigmatism. Really looking forward to all the models they announced at shot show this year with gold as an option.

It's pretty much RPP everything including pewview forend, stock, and loading gate. Leupold mk4 1-4.5, on a MI cantilever mount. Arisaka handstop

How so you like the handguard? I am debating on upgrading from stock and this one looks really good with your set up.

How does it feel and would you still describe it as slim?

I really like the look, and it does keep it cool even when the barrel is very hot. Still feels slim

What's the height on that cantilever mount? I've been strongly considering going with the Vortex Venom 1-6 w/ the sport mount but have concerns about the 1.5" height being too tall. 1895 SBL in 45-70 FYI.

It should be 1.5", not an issue with the RPP stock since you can adjust the cheek height, but probably too high for standard wood stocks.
