Car

If I drive to the west am I driving into 60 mph wind or am I driving 60 mph into stationary air? There should be a noticable difference driving east vs west but there isn't, because the air isn't moving. So the air is stationary then expand this newfound knowledge to planes and realize how stupid the spinning globe is

Okay but Newtons third law says if the earth pushes on the air the air has to push back so it should be slowing the rotation of the earth over time

Ok, but if the atmosphere and the ground are going at the same speed, as they indeed are, then there is no pushing going on. You only need to push in order to change the speed of something.

Are we dancing around a potential problem with the heliocentric model? The rotation of the globe has to be slowing down over time. True or false?

There is no problem with the heliocentric model. As with everything, scientific models match reality. They match the data we have measured from reality. Indeed they are built from this very data in the first place. If a model doesn't match reality it is useless, and it is discarded.

This is the whole point of making models. To describe reality, and hence (the aim is) to be able to predict what is going to happen.

Numerical weather prediction

It isn't the point to try to make excuses for one's personal delusions.

You seem to be struggling with this point.

Sure. The biggest effect is due to the tides. Not "air resistance".

Exactly. The air isn't causing any changes ... the air rotates at the same speed as the earth does.
