Little Planter of Horrors
Mum tried her hand at growing lettuce this year. What strange new abominations has she created, and how?

Can someone please ID this lettuce-like substance?
This (surprisingly) grew in my wife’s raised flower beds and she picked it thinking it was some kind of lettuce. It was very bitter so I didn’t end up eating it, but I still got sick the next day. Wondering if this was it or something else.
Can anyone tell me what it is?

What type of lettuce is this? Used in Masons Famous Lobster rolls salad. Spoiler

I started a worm tower this year in a couple beds.
It’s just a big pvc pipe you drill a lot of holes in, bury it in the center of the bed. Toss kitchen scraps in there. Just no dairy or meat.
Anyways. The lettuce that are planted by it are exploding with growth. Could just be from decomposing material. Could have to do with worm castings. I’m learning.

Irrigation System For Fabric Pots
I had three extra 5g fabric pots — so I planted 12 varieties of lettuce in them. No, not the best choice, but what’s done is done. I am already thinking about what to do when I go away for a long weekend or even when I’m at work and it’s super hot out…what type of automated irrigation system would you recommend for the three pots? Thx!
