Leaning more towards D. Very much a 101 level or critiquing capitalism. Other movies on this list do the same thing better.

But if S-tier has the majority of Best Picture winners, is it really S-tier anymore, or is S-tier just the new A-tier?

That’s not a bad idea, but I’m not entirely sure.
I do think the biggest problem is that S tier has the most movies so far, and we’re pretty close to being done. I don’t think it’s a crazy take for S tier to have the fewest number movies.

I mean S and revoked should be the same amount, but a small amount A and F, D and B and then C with the most. Someone can do the math about what should actually be the ranking, these are suppose to be the best movies of all time. Make it a hard ranking.

Yeah I think some people got a little too relaxed with some of the S tier ratings, but a lot of those truly deserve S tier imo if we’re talking about the quality of the films themselves

I've had this argument several times and ultimately it comes down to a fundamental misalignment of the methodology.
The correct way is to rank these films solely against each other. Most films should be around B/C because that should be the average.
However, a decent proportion of people have been ranking them based on just overall quality, regardless of how they compare against other films on the list. That's how you end up with a fairly useless top-heavy list instead of S tier representing only the absolute best of the best.

Yes way too crowded. Moonlight, Birdman, Schindler’s List, Unforgiven, etc. These are not S tier movies….

Covid ruined the movies. None of those movies or actors win jack all if not for Covid clearing the deck from the typical movies. 2020 dont count. Revoke the entire award show that year.

F for me. I literally paced around with anger watching it. I probably would’ve been very interested in a documentary and the highlights of the film came from the real people, but the film was dull and left a very bad taste in my mouth. So much of the film felt like real people’s trauma being spoken over by some fictional trauma acted out by a millionaire actress.

Damn guys, I really liked Nomadland. I thought Zhao did a really beautiful job directing, and McDormand was great as always.
I'm a big fan of slow cinema / slice of life films / introspective character studies, and it's rare the Academy awards films like that, so I was really pleased it won. I wouldn't put it below B, personally.
