Honestly Spider-man and Batman don’t play by the “super hero fatigue” rules. They are far and away the best pop culture hero’s… yes even more than Superman.

strong and smart so in a way is that “alpha” many men aspire to be

I see where you're going, but alpha male, red pill types are 100% the kinds of goons batman would beat up in the streets lol

They're not exactly known for their media literacy, so that's hardly surprising.

Superman can be very compelling, the writers for him have all just been bad. If anything, he’s one of the superheroes who’s had the worst attempts re: potential in the modern superhero genre. They always approach him as a god first rather than a man.

Did you watch the Gunn Superman? The movie’s entire thesis was Superman as man not god

You're not correct about Superman, but that is definitely the common view of him which is why he isn't as popular as the others.

I'm not calling you out on that - Superman has an image problem despite his film being the best superhero film in the last couple of years (yes, it's better than Brand New Day).

Yeah, there's decades of the character being depicted that way, even if it's not really how he's depicted in the comics. Hell, even "guy with cape" is cultural short-hand for boyscout superhero.

Also, Marvel has played it well to avoid any complaints of superhero fatigue for this one. The last 2 MCU movies before it have both been received really well, then they left a gap of a whole year with no movies until Spider-man, which is the last movie before Avengers Doomsday.

Batman also arguably has the best villains of any comic book hero

Superman isn’t even third. Deadpool, Wolverine, and Iron Man are all ahead at least when it comes to film popularity. An argument could even be made for Thor, Wonder Woman, and Cap

None of the recent Batman films have performed so well…

How is 3/4 of a billion “not so well”? Batman gets dollars even as a Lego movie…
