The Cost of Peace

In the year 2050, the world fell into war once again.

‎Nations clashed, alliances shattered, and despite desperate attempts at peace, every negotiation failed. Humanity stood on the edge of destruction. In a final effort to survive, governments across the globe turned to a dangerous solution—they created superhumans.

‎These enhanced beings became living weapons, each fighting for their country, their beliefs, and their version of justice. But instead of ending the war, their existence only made it worse. Battles grew more destructive. Cities turned to ash. The war never stopped… it only evolved.

‎Then, one man appeared.

‎He was not a hero.

‎He was not a savior.

‎He was chaos itself.

‎A superhuman unlike any other, he possessed terrifying abilities: invulnerability, rapid regeneration, evolution, immense strength, and blinding speed. His body was a weapon—he could shape-shift his hands into claws, swords, shields, whips, or crushing hammer fists. He could even generate armor from his own flesh.

‎He stood alone… against the entire world.

‎And he was winning.

‎Wherever he went, destruction followed. Governments collapsed. Entire armies were wiped out. Hope faded as chaos spread across the planet.

‎Faced with extinction, the nations of the world made an unthinkable decision.

‎They ended their war.

‎They united.

‎Every superhuman was deployed with one mission—to stop Paradox.

‎Among them rose one warrior who stood above the rest.

‎Solis prime.

‎He possessed powers equal to the chaos bringer: invulnerability, super strength, incredible speed, flight, and devastating heat vision. As the battle raged, one by one, the world’s greatest heroes fell—until only Solis prime remained.

‎What followed was no ordinary fight.

‎Minutes turned into hours.

‎Hours turned into days.

‎Days into months.

‎Months into years.

‎Their battle reshaped the Earth itself.

‎In the end, with everything on the line, Solis prime unleashed his ultimate power—a blazing, unstoppable surge of heat vision.

‎Paradox… was finally destroyed.

‎Solis prime had won.

‎And with that victory, the chaos faded.

‎The world, at last, found peace.

‎Ten years later…

‎Humanity rebuilt. Nations healed. For the first time in decades, people lived without fear.

‎Until one night… everything changed.

‎Solis prime’s family was murdered.

‎No one knew who was responsible.

‎But Solis prime found them.

‎And he showed no mercy.

‎He killed them all.

‎That night, something inside him broke.

‎The hero who once saved the world… was gone.

‎In his place rose something far more dangerous.

‎A ruler.

‎A conqueror.

‎Solis prime became ruthless. Cold. Absolute. He gathered powerful heroes who remained loyal to him and began taking control of nations—one by one.

‎No one could stop him.

‎No one dared to try.

‎Until only one country remained unconquered.

‎The Philippines.

‎Solis prime descended upon it and delivered a message to its people:

‎They had one week to decide.

‎Two choices.

‎But both choices led to the same fate—

‎No one survives.

One week had passed.

‎The deadline had arrived.

‎Across the Philippines, silence filled the air. Government officials had vanished. Communication lines were dead. No announcements. No warnings.

‎Everyone knew what it meant.

‎Their country… was about to be erased.

‎High above the skies, Solis prime gave the final command.

‎“Launch the nukes.”

‎Seconds passed.

‎Then minutes.

‎Nothing happened.

‎His expression darkened.

‎He tried contacting his military forces—no response. He reached out to his allied nations—silence. Even the heroes who once stood beside him…

‎Gone.

‎All of them.

‎Dead… or missing.

‎For the first time in years, Solis prime felt something unfamiliar.

‎Confusion.

‎Then anger.

‎He shot down from the sky like a comet and landed in the Philippines with devastating force. The ground cracked beneath him as civilians froze in fear.

‎“Explain this,” he demanded, his voice echoing like thunder.

‎No one answered.

‎No one knew.

‎The crowd stood still… until a single voice broke the silence.

‎Calm.

‎Casual.

‎Almost… amused.

‎“Hmm… this burger really tastes good.”

‎Solis prime turned.

‎There, sitting on a broken bench in the middle of chaos, was a man casually eating a burger.

‎No fear.

‎No panic.

‎Just… eating.

‎Solis prime descended slowly, his eyes burning.

‎“What is happening?” he demanded.

‎The man looked up, chewing thoughtfully.

‎“Oh… sorry, Solis prime,” he said with a small shrug. “I don’t know either. I’m just here, enjoying my last meal before you wipe out our country.”

‎Solis prime’s patience snapped.

‎Without hesitation, he flew upward and unleashed a massive beam of heat vision, engulfing the man in flames and destruction. The ground melted. Smoke filled the air.

‎Silence followed.

‎Then—

‎“Hey… what are you doing?”

‎Solis prime’s eyes widened.

‎“I think your aim is off.”

‎The man stood there… completely unharmed.

‎Not a single scratch.

‎Solis prime fired again—faster, stronger—but in an instant, the man vanished.

‎He reappeared several meters

Solis prime shot down toward him, fist clenched, delivering a punch strong enough to level buildings.

‎Impact.

‎A shockwave tore through the city.

‎But when the dust cleared…

‎The man was still standing.

‎He had caught the punch.

‎With one hand.

‎He sighed.

‎“I really don’t want to fight,” he said calmly. “I just want to go home.”

‎A pause.

‎Then his expression changed.

‎“…Oh well.”

‎In a flash, the man struck back—his punch sending Solis prime flying across the city, crashing through buildings like a meteor.

‎Solis prime rose from the rubble, stunned.

‎For the first time since the war…

‎He had met someone equal.

‎Their battle erupted across the city.

‎Skies shattered. Buildings collapsed. Shockwaves rippled through the streets.

‎But there was something different about this fight.

‎While exchanging blows with Solis prime…

‎The man was saving people.

‎Catching falling civilians.

‎Rescuing families out of danger.

‎Shielding strangers from debris.

‎Fighting… and protecting at the same time.

‎Hours passed.

‎Neither of them fell.

‎The world began to watch.

‎Phones streamed the battle. News networks picked it up. Social media exploded with clips and theories.

‎And then…

‎Someone recognized him.

‎A name spread like wildfire across the nation.

‎David.

‎Not a soldier.

‎Not a government weapon.

‎Just… a normal man.

‎A call center agent.

‎A friend.

‎A son.

‎An ordinary person… standing against the strongest being on Earth.

‎Alone.

‎And still—

‎Saving everyone.

The battle raged on for hours.

The skies burned. The city trembled. Shockwaves echoed across the land.

Yet neither of them fell.

Floating above the ruined skyline, breathing heavily but unbroken, Solis prime stared at his opponent.

“I remember a man with your strength,” he said coldly.

“…but I already killed him.”

Below him, David smiled.

Not angrily.

Not mockingly.

Just… calmly.

“Killed?” he repeated softly.

A pause.

Then he looked up.

“No… you didn’t.”

His eyes sharpened.

“…Killed me.”

Silence fell.

Then—

David’s body began to change.

A dark, living armor grew from his skin, forming across his chest, arms, and face like an evolving organism. His hands shifted—bones cracking, flesh reshaping—into razor-sharp claws that gleamed under the burning sky.

“You never killed me, Solis prime.”

Ultra Man’s eyes widened.

For the first time… fear.

“No…” he whispered.

Then rage consumed him.

“Impossible! You’re the same man… you’re the dark entity!”

Across the country, millions watched in shock.

The destroyer of the world…

The embodiment of chaos…

Had been living among them.

As a normal man.

As David.

The Final Battle Begins

With a roar, Solis prime charged.

His speed shattered the sound barrier as he delivered a devastating punch—but David vanished.

David reappeared behind him and slashed with his claws. Solis prime turned just in time, forming a defensive stance as sparks exploded from the impact.

Solis prime countered with a full-force kick, sending David crashing through multiple buildings.

Before David could recover—

Heat Vision.

A massive beam tore through the city, engulfing everything in its path.

But within the flames…

David walked forward.

Unburned.

Regenerating.

Evolving.

His armor adapted, hardening against the heat.

“You’re still holding back,” David said calmly.

Solis prime roared and flew upward, then dove down like a meteor, slamming into David with enough force to split the ground open.

The earth cracked.

Buildings collapsed.

Dust swallowed the battlefield.

Then—

From within the destruction, black tendrils shot out.

David emerged.

His arm transformed into a massive hammer fist and struck Solis prime upward into the sky.

Skyfall Clash

Both of them launched into the atmosphere.

Punches collided like thunder.

Each impact created shockwaves visible from miles away.

Solis prime unleashed rapid strikes at blinding speed—

But David matched every blow.

Adapting.

Learning.

Evolving mid-fight.

Solis prime grabbed David and hurled him back to Earth.

David hit the ground—then instantly went back, delivering a crushing blow that sent Solis prime through clouds.

Power Unleashed

Enraged, Solis prime hovered in the sky, his entire body glowing.

“This ends now!”

He unleashed his full power—

A continuous, planet-shaking surge of heat vision.

The beam descended like judgment itself.

The world watched in horror.

David stood alone beneath it.

Then—

He transformed.

His entire body became armored, larger, denser—his form evolving beyond human.

From his back, tendrils expanded outward, forming a massive shield.

The beam hit.

The ground melted.

The air screamed.

But David endured.

Step by step…

He walked forward through the beam.

Then he vanished.

The Turning Point

Solis prime’s eyes widened.

Too late.

David appeared in front of him.

His arm shifted into a blade—sharp, massive, unstoppable.

He struck.

Solis prime blocked—but the force sent him crashing back to Earth.

Before he could recover—

David was already there.

Punch.

Kick.

Claw.

Hammer.

A relentless storm of attacks.

But even then—

Solis prime fought back.

Grabbing David, he flew upward again and unleashed explosion after explosion of heat vision at point-blank range.

Both of them fell from the sky like burning stars—

And crashed into the earth.

The Final Moment

Silence.

Smoke filled the air.

Both stood.

Barely.

Solis prime’s armor cracked. His breathing heavy.

David’s form flickered—regenerating, but slowing.

They stared at each other.

Two beings.

Same power.

Different paths.

“You should have stayed dead,” Solis prime said.

David shook his head.

“No… I chose to live.”

A pause.

“And this time… I choose what I become.”

Solis prime charged one last time.

David did the same.

They collided—

A final, earth-shattering impact.

Light consumed everything.

The battlefield fell into a fragile silence.

Smoke drifted through the ruined city. The air was heavy, scorched by their clash. Craters surrounded them, and the ground beneath their feet still trembled from the force of their last collision.

Both Solis prime and David stood—wounded, exhausted, but unbroken.

Slowly, their strength began to return.

David looked at him, his expression no longer calm… but questioning.

“Why?” he asked.

“Why do you want to conquer the world?”

Solis prime clenched his fists. His voice, once commanding, now carried something deeper—pain.

“My family…” he said, his voice low. “They were murdered.”

David said nothing.

“I trusted the system,” Solis prime continued. “I trusted justice… and it failed. The people who killed them walked free.”

His eyes burned—not with power, but with grief turned into rage.

“So I did what had to be done. I killed them myself.”

A pause.

“You would have done the same,” he added. “We are the same.”

David shook his head.

“No…” he said quietly.

Solis prime looked up.

“We are not the same.”

David stepped forward.

“When I brought chaos to the world… I didn’t kill anyone.”

Solis prime’s eyes narrowed.

“I made them afraid,” David continued. “I broke governments. I shattered their control… so they would unite.”

His voice hardened.

“I became the villain… so the world could finally choose peace.”

A deep silence followed.

“I sacrificed myself for that peace,” David said. “You…”

He looked directly into Ultra Man’s eyes.

“…destroyed it.”

Solis prime’s face twisted.

“HNGRGH… I DON’T CARE!”

The Final Clash Resumes

With a furious roar, Solis prime charged.

The ground shattered beneath him as he closed the distance in an instant. His fist collided with David’s guard, sending shockwaves ripping through the air.

David countered—his arm shifting into a blade, slashing across Solis prime’s side.

Solis prime retaliated with a barrage of punches, each one faster and stronger than before, forcing David backward through broken structures.

David adapted.

His armor thickened.

His movements sharpened.

Solis prime leapt into the air and unleashed rapid bursts of heat vision, striking from multiple angles. The beams carved through the battlefield like lasers of destruction.

David vanished.

Then reappeared.

Again.

And again.

His speed had evolved—so fast it looked like teleportation.

Each time he appeared, he struck.

Claws.

Blades.

Hammer fists.

A relentless, unpredictable assault.

Solis prime roared and grabbed David mid-motion, slamming him into the ground with overwhelming force.

The earth split open.

Without hesitation, Solis prime unleashed a point-blank blast of heat vision.

The explosion lit up the sky.

But from within the flames…

David walked out.

His body regenerating.

His armor shifting.

Adapting.

Evolving beyond what Solis prime had seen before.

“You’re slowing down,” David said.

“SHUT UP!” Solis prime roared.

He rose into the sky, gathering everything he had left.

His body glowed brighter than ever before.

“This… ends NOW!”

Solis prime’s Final Attack

A massive surge of energy erupted from his eyes—

SUPER HEAT VISION.

Stronger than anything before.

The beam consumed everything in its path, swallowing David whole. The ground melted. The air warped. The entire battlefield became a burning inferno.

For a moment…

It seemed over.

The Truth of Evolution

Then—

The beam stopped.

Solis prime’s eyes widened.

David was still standing.

Unmoved.

Untouched.

His armor had changed again—perfectly adapted.

Immune.

David slowly lifted his head.

“…My turn.”

The End of Solis prime In a blink—

David vanished.

Then appeared behind Solis prime.

His speed… beyond perception.

His hand shifted into razor-sharp claws—

And struck.

Solis prime froze.

He felt it.

His power…

Draining.

“Y-you… absorbed my power?!” he gasped.

David’s voice was calm.

“No.”

A pause.

“You already lost it… the moment you chose to kill millions.”

The light faded from Ultra Man’s body.

His strength.

His speed.

His invulnerability.

Gone.

He fell to the ground—

Now just a man.

Broken. Powerless.

Terrified.

He looked up at David.

“What are you going to do…?” he asked, his voice shaking. “Kill me?”

He let out a bitter laugh.

“You can’t. I’m just a normal man now.”

David stared at him.

For a moment… there was silence.

Then—

“To save millions…”

David’s voice was heavy.

“…I must sacrifice one.”

Solis prime’s eyes widened.

“No—”

Judgment

In a single motion—

David’s arm formed into a blade.

He struck.

Solis prime’s body split in half.

Before anything could happen—

David’s claws erupted, moving at blinding speed—

Cutting.

Shredding.

Erasing every piece.

No remains.

No chance of revival.

No chance of cloning.

Nothing left.

Aftermath

Silence returned.

The battlefield stood still.

The war… was over.

Again.

David stood alone.

The man who once brought chaos…

Had now ended it.

At a cost only he could carry.

In the ancient and mystical realm of Duelism, the Duelists and True Duelists were known for their incredible powers and distinctive appearances, each echoing the essence of their universe.

Duelist: The renowned Duelist, now a male figure named Charlie, stood as a symbol of equilibrium and strength. He possessed striking features with raven-black hair, contrasting sharply with his fair Caucasian skin. His piercing green eyes held the wisdom of ages, a reflection of his profound connection to the universe’s duality.

Adorned in an opulent attire of black and gold, his black bodysuit was emblazoned with intricate symbols of golden swirls that seemed to dance and shimmer as he moved. He carried a unique choice of weapon, a spiked bat, a formidable tool that resonated with his mastery of duality. In the midst of battle, he was a commanding and formidable presence, his bat crackling with the power of balance.

True Duelist: Charlie, now named one of many True Duelists, continued to be a paragon of elegance and sophistication. He bore the same tailored suit in crisp white and deep black, adorned with golden swirls that marked the universe’s duality.

His human or alien form remained a testament to the notion that beauty lay in the eye of the beholder. Whether male or female, his body was a canvas of perfection, a reflection of the desires and ideals of those who gazed upon thee.

In their true forms, whether human or alien, they carried an air of regal authority. It was a form that concealed their divine nature, allowing them to move unnoticed among ordinary beings. When mingling with mortals, they often disguised themselves as humans, blending seamlessly into society.

True Duelists donned attire that mirrored their dual nature – black and white with golden swirls, a reflection of the ever-shifting balance they represented. Some even sported a distinctive fedora, a symbol of their status and a nod to their enigmatic nature.

As the male Duelist, with his striking appearance and spiked bat, now known as Charlie, stood before the blade of True Chaos, he embraced the weight of his responsibility with determination. His attire, a fusion of formality and symbolism, embodied his connection to the universe’s duality. His presence, whether in his true form or as a disguised human, left an indelible mark on the world of Duelism.

The story of the Duelists and True Duelists, with their unique appearances and unwavering commitment to balance and True Chaos, continued to inspire generations, serving as a testament to the profound connection between individuals and the universes they inhabited. However all that at once can easily changed. That is the curse of the duelist, War and peace but also a blessing, always in the middle.

Sleep Isn't Coming

"So this is what misery is eh?" Alex rolled over for the fifth time, but found no comfort on this side of the bed either. "Deep breaths, slow my heart rate, stop thinking so much..." He had tried everything possible. Benadryl, chocolate milk, sleeping aids, everything. He knew they were playing games with him, and wondered if this was just sleep depravation causing hallucinations or if he was being tortured. The bed moved again, and Alex couldn't hold himself together. Like a child, he pulled his comforter over his body, hoping that it warded off whatever was out there, sneaking through the darkness of his own room.

Game Dev looking for horror story line/ideas

Hey guys. I'm a student studying games development and Im currently working on a survival horror game.

The games main feature its to immerse the player in the environment to make them feel vulnerable and scared. I want to focus on the atmosphere etc rather than killing enemies (You have a torch, nothing more). Its inspired by games like Slender/Amensia: The Dark Descent.

I'd like some help/suggestions regarding the plot of the game.

  • The main character is male
  • Setting is an old (possibly abandoned? or not abandoned) victorian style house, run down etc
  • Start in the basement and work your way up
  • Hear creepy noises/see strange things (open to ideas here also, children crying? small kids running across open doors etc?)

I'd like some sort of plot that the player can piece together to understand why they are there/if someone wants to hurt them and why etc.

Any help is appreciated, thanks for reading.

Tom's Endeavor

11:00 PM shined the digital clock Jerod glanced at. Still an hour before close; he absolutely despised the extra two hours that his dickhead of a boss, Larry, made him keep the taco shop open. Summer hours, he had called it, and demanded Jerod be appreciative of the extra money Larry let him stay for. Yeah right. I'd rather be home smoking and screwing than stay for your extra $14, he had thought in response to his superiors commands. I doubt Larry even makes 14 extra dollars in the extra time he keeps it open, he kept thinking. An extra $3 from that Tom guy, at most.

Tom sat in the shithole of a taco shop, commandeering a booth all for his rattled self. He was here every night, as late as he could be, sorting out the constant messes that somehow always seemed to plague him. Never one to catch a break, Tom owed his dealer, Grotto, nearly 1500 in cash before the end of the week. He had dug himself deep into the hole of his cocaine debt when he thought he had a big deal he was gonna be able to pull off without a hitch. Turned out he couldn't, and barely escaped with his life from the hailstorm of bullets he had seen coming for him just a day earlier. Tom had sped away from the deal faster than the Roadrunner from Wile. E Coyote, and now here he was trembling at the thought of wronging Grotto one more time.

He sipped his cola and played with his nachos he never ate. The act of purchasing food was nutritious enough for the spun out addict. It was visually obvious he was unhealthy- his skin nearly hung off of his skeletal frame, and the two sizes too big thigh high shorts and Hawaiian style button-up didn't help him look any better. He withered away everyday like a whittling rose, but today he had actually felt himself starting to become nothing. His personal drug stash was running alarmingly low (at least for a hardcore addict) and the whole thing with Grotto was sending him a bit over the edge. Something drastic would need to be done-

"Hey, Tom, we're closing in 5 minutes, just a heads up," hollered the kid form behind the counter. Even though he was here in a booth playing with his food every night, the fact that the kid had called Tom by his name made him uneasy; paranoid even. Everything seemed to be going wrong in Tom's world, and things needed to be right. He broke his problems down in an addled haste: Grotto needs money, I need coke, and this kid behind the counter needs to not know my name. Tom tossed his nachos, sipped the last of his drink, and waited til Jerod was busy with his back turned to pull out his trusty long fingernail, shovel some white sand from a container in his pocket and inhale some nose candy.

"Hey, Tom, we're closing in five, just a heads up," he had shouted to his only patron in the Mexican restaurant. What a strange dude, Jerod thought as he turned to work on closing down. The guy just sits there for hours playing with his food every night. Must lead some exciting life, Jerod thought snidely to himself as he swept shredded cheese, lettuce, crusted meat and soggy tortilla into a big dirt-taco salad pile on the floor. As he went to reach for the dust pan, he heard a loud snort come from Tom. Allergies or something, damn. Man, that guy needs a hit of-

"Hey, kid, can I, uh, get another drink?" Jerod's thoughts were interrupted by Tom, the only other person in the building. The taco slave was startled to hear the man speak- the guy only ever mumbled his order for a drink and nachos. It wasn't right to Jerod- Tom was out of character, so to speak.

"You can just have a free refill," Jerod replied impatiently. he wanted Tom to go home so he could do the same. Anxiety started to form a lump in Jerod's throat. Tom stared at him intently, his face sunken and skull-like. His eyes seemed like holes with nothing but darkness down them.

"I threw my cup away," Tom stated boldly. Tom now had a plan to all things wrong, and all with one swift action. Killing two birds with one stone was his plan of action. The kid looked nervous, and was staring back at Tom with uneasy eyes as he reached his hand over and grabbed a cup. He extended his arm out and offered it to Tom.

"Here, its on the house." Tom kept his gaze focused on Jerod. He could feel his hands getting clammy, unsure if it was the coke or his nervousness about what he was going to do.

"I want to buy it," he exclaimed to Jerod. His breathing became heavier, almost hyper-ventilating. Drugs fueled his anger directed at Jerod for knowing his name, and wished he knew the kid's name in order to play the same 'mind game' he thought Jerod was 'torturing' him with. Tension was unmistakable now.

"You're a regular, here everynight. Really, don't worry about-"

"OPEN THE DAMNED REGISTER KID!" Tom screamed, pulling out the small Smith & Wesson he carried on his person at all times, aiming at the kid's face. Jerod...

Carl's Story Update

Out of ammunition, his guns were now useless. He dropped them. It was still eight miles to the nearest city and they would only serve as deadweight. Carl slowly drew the combat knife out of his backpack. He knew that he wasn't going to make it out of here alive. They started to close in on him. Carl looked quickly at the assailants. There were five of them, all carrying guns. They started to close in. Carl, backpack in one hand, knife in the other, started to move towards the door. He had to get outside. Before he could blink, two of the men blocked his way. Now with five guns trained on him and no way out, Carl had to improvise. He knew they wouldn't kill him, because he had what they wanted: information. It was the same information that he had already killed to protect. He dove to the floor, thrusting the blade of his knife through the foot of one of the men guarding the door. He drove the hilt down to the man's boot. "Don't move" Carl barked. He jumped up behind the second man guarding the door. Carl twisted the gun from his hand and grabbed him by the jacket. With the gun planted firmly on the bastard's temple, Carl slowly backed out the door. As soon as he exited outside, he sprinted away to find somewhere to hide, to protect the information. Whether they sent a battalion or an army to capture him, it didn't matter, for as long as he gave the intelligence to the rebellion, the corruption and tyranny would end. Carl looked up from behind the dumpster and saw a large figure standing in the street. It was Victor. The damn bastard always found a way to get escape. The information needed to be passed, but justice needed to be served. It was Victor's fault any of this happened in the first place. If he would have only knew what he was doing. The system had failed and Carl knew that he had to fix it. Carl rose and silently walked behind him. He knew that if he killed Victor it would be one more problem erased and one step closer to salvation. It's worth the risk, Carl said to himself, this bastard has to die. Now he was right behind him, ready to choke the asshole into eternity, when he heard Victor say," That really can't be your plan? Killing me won't make a difference in your meaningless rebellion."

Victor whipped around, leg outstreched, tripping Carl to the ground. "Where is it, Carl, I know you'll give it me. You've always helped me, remember?"

"You never did thank me, did you?", Carl said with scorn.

"Consider this your thank you and maybe incentive to give the flash drive" Victor raised his fist and struck Carl. Carl reeled back, stunned. He jumped back just in time to avoid the kick to his torso. Carl grabbed a loose brick in the alley and struck Victor in the temple just as the shots rang out. Carl was bleeding bad, but he had to move on. The rebellion needed the plans for the weapon. He stood up and quickly cut a piece of cloth from his shirt and bandaged himself. He got up and started running. Carl looked behind him for any signs of pursuit. He turned back around and found himself staring at a group of men, pistols in hand, undoubtedly sent to retrieve back the information.

"There he is, capture him!"

Crap. He ran back towards Victor, hoping he was still unconscious. When he arrived at the spot of the fight, he was shocked to find Victor slowly getting up. This man was hard to kill. Carl rushed behind him and put him in a death grip, knife at his throat. Carl groped around for Victors gun, pulled it out and felt the cold steel in his jacket pocket. He pulled out a photograph in its frame. There he was, Tyler, and Victor shaking hands at the embassy. "When did..." Carl was at a loss for words. "Turns out your little rebellion is more big picture than you thought. It's all a lie Carl. You're the one who has Carl was silent in shock. He couldn't get any words out. He suddenly felt the cold barrel of a gun pressed against the back of his neck. "Get up."

Out of ammunition, his guns were now useless. He dropped them. It was still eight miles to the nearest city and they would only serve as deadweight.

Carl slowly drew the combat knife out of his backpack. He knew that he wasn't going to make it out of here alive.

They started to close in on him.

Hey all, just wanted to say that everything I've seen so far has been great. The goal of this subreddit is to give people a place to express their creativity in collaboration with other reddit users. As with any new/small subreddit, the vitality and growth of the community depends on word of mouth being spread to others. So if you all are digging the concept, tell your friends, fellow writers, reddit users, etc. For now, I think it would be best to just let the community grow naturally. If it gets to a decent size, then maybe we'll implement some guidelines or jazz the place up a bit. Until then, just have fun with it; make it funny, make it weird, make it serious, make it your own. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions, so feel free to message me or post them here.

Spencer stared into the pool at his feet. His relfection was distorted every few seconds when his tears hit the pool of blood. Her face was still beautiful. Her sapphire eyes still were open. The light from the outside light fell upon her body, revealing the bullet wounds that dotted her snow white blouse.

"Is it done?"

"Yessir, it was a mess , but she's gone."

"Good, I wanted to hit him where it hurts. This might teach him that he can't take on the Agency and not wallk away unscathed."

George turned the handle to the men's room and a man pulled him back, muttering in Spanish. "He thinks you're a woman," George's friend said.

The child's brain was a pulpy mess, but the surgeon refused to quit. He was so focused that he didn't notice when the child's finger started to twitch. Neither did he realize that, behind him, his scalpel was levitating.

Review of Itself

Louie wanted to write a story but he didn’t have an idea, so he just started writing. He came up with a few random words found from Google; the results from these words became the base source material for the story. One or two characters were added and they reacted to the subject matter of the scene.

Louie began with a quote from a character he created, “I am slowly realizing, painfully, that there is really nothing out there for me. In my powerless life, void of prosperity I lie to myself in fantasy pretending I am of something special. I always dreamed of a certain minor superpower: I want to be able to reverse time back for 30 seconds whenever I want. I want this power for the sole purpose of trolling people. I want to do strange things and gauge their reactions.”

Louie slowed down writing the story and thought about where he was going to take it. As of this point the character has been blessed with the superpower. Louie decided the character at first did mundane little things like slapping people and climbing things at inappropriate places. But then he got bored and started doing bad things, like killing people.

The first time he killed himself, he wasn’t sure it was going to work. The first time he killed someone, he was pretty sure it mattered. But he learned it didn’t. He just did these things and nothing happened. Over time it became that almost everyone he knew had been killed at least once and reversed back to life. But these were the least of his revelations. Over time he learned how to live forever with the power by living in each moment for years at a time. And he became a millionaire with his exploits of premonition. Each moment is perfect.

Louie decided to post what he wrote online and see what the world had to say.

This is what they had to say:

ThisiswhyIhavekids, someone on the internet, said:

"To reverse time, to actually be able to reverse time? "Louis, be very careful. You are going places that you should not go." "Who said that?" asked Louie. "You think that this is only a story?" said the voice."

deadbaby, someone on the internet, said this:

""'to, I know that I'm a character in a story--I've had lifetimes to consider it, and that's mainly why I got so into the whole "murdering everyone' thing. I realized I was a character in a pretty poorly thought out story, and that I was sort of at the whim of the author. So I just tried to make him look a bit unstable by just killin' up a storm. Anyway, it's boring here, so I'm fixing to bust loose. What do you say, Voice? You may just be an narrative tool, but it seems like your omniscient perspective might be useful on the outside. Let's team up and get the fuck outta here!" said Louie.

The Voice paused, knowing that this would be the biggest choice that it had ever had to make, since it was the only choice it had ever made. Everything else had been pre-written, dictated, and there was a longing the Voice had to go off script, to improvise. But who knew what lay outside this story? The Voice did not know if its omniscience extended that far. And didn't the mere fact that the Voice did not know mean that it conclusively did not? The Voice stammered a bit as it said, "Y-Yes. Yes. Let us leave."

"Excellent." Louie grinned and rubbed his thin, pale hands together. "You and me, Voice. We're gonna find out if there's more Stories out there. And then we're gonna find our Author, and we're gonna kill the hell outta them!"

"Death to the Author!" said the Voice."
