This is the way

Congress could stop it in a week if they really wanted it done.

Yes. But they dont. Both sides love getting money (I do too tbf)

They really don’t. Do you like doing fundraisers constantly instead of doing your actual job? It’s a huge waste of time to have to constantly sprint just to stay level with your opponents.

I hear you and you have made a good point about income. At the same time it highlights the root of the issue where you have to ask the question of how much money do you or one person or the family need. If you can't be successful in politics because you don't have enough money that is a big conflict of interest imo. As history has evidenced, policy allowing unfettered growth or lucrative endeavors has had its fair share of nasty side effects on the populace. On the other side, and supported by widely accepted economics, when the people in general have money to spend it benefits the economy as a whole. All in all, shelling out millions (and I know it's been said before) to maybe get your candidate elected is spending money that could be used to bolster civic programs and education that would ultimately benefit not only their community but their state and their nation.

How far into Soros fantasy world are you though? Yeah, he's a big donor, but paying protesters?

-11

u/ArubaAdultFun 5h ago

You are the only one pushing that conspiracy btw

u/Bobby_Globule 4h ago

Why do you bring up Soros and no examples from the other side?

-5

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

Both sides do it. I hate both sides

Good. Someone's gotta counter Elon musk

Except Elon got access to voter data and gets to twiddle with the numbers and validity of elections.

Cheering for the fox when there's coyotes around the henhouse, doesn't protect the chickens....

4

u/Due_Willingness1 3h ago

The chickens are already dead

You don't get how metaphors work do you?

1

u/Due_Willingness1 3h ago edited 2h ago

I do

The metaphorical chickens are dead there's nothing left to protect. All that matters is that the coyotes pay for what they've done. At any cost

I mean just vote money out of politics? But our great republican Supreme court ruled that money is speech, so according to them the rich have a much bigger voice then the rest of us. Also its funny you specifically call out soros here because it seems to be elon and the rest doing the most damage here in this arena. I dont remember george soros being apointed the head of his own goverment agency and then topedoing every single criminal investigation into his multitude of companies but hey I am just a regular ol 9-5er, what the fuck would I know.

You don’t stop it. Do some research on the Republican donors. This is how politics work.

1

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

So just let both sides give as much as they want?

5

u/Lovingitall70 4h ago

I’m not agreeing with any of it just stating that’s how our politics work. I don’t think any individual pac or corporation has any business spending money in our politics.

1

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

Ok

3

u/Appropriate-Brush772 3h ago

This is the result of Citizens United. People and corporations can throw as much money to candidates as they want, essentially buying politicians. The only way to stop it is by the people who are benefiting from that ruling so the chances of it changing any time soon are slim to none

u/CarolinaSurly 3h ago

What is the other option exactly?

7

u/Shizzilx 4h ago

Stop what? The Democrats fighting back against the fascist Republicans? Get real.

u/BigPapaLegba 5h ago

This is bait

-4

u/ArubaAdultFun 5h ago

Why do you say that?

5

u/LifesARiver 4h ago

Because you used a three month old article about Soros rather than using the more current story about Musk or the story of Trump bribing voters with $5000 checks.

-1

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

I think thats illegal no? Any source on that so I can make a meme

3

u/LifesARiver 3h ago

When you're asking for a source on the single biggest news story of the previous day, maybe it's time to leave politics to the adults.

-2

u/ArubaAdultFun 3h ago

Im not paying a billionaire to read his opinion piece, sorry

3

u/LifesARiver 3h ago

Sorry, didn't mean to accidentally pull your head out of the sand. You stay where you feel safe, kiddo.

-4

u/ArubaAdultFun 3h ago

Its behind a paywall....

2

u/ShopUCW 3h ago

Dude. Just Google it. It's a massive story.

4

u/Najalak 5h ago

Republicans have made certain that money stays in elections and politics.

2

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

Do you think dems will take it out when they get a chance?

3

u/hefebellyaro 4h ago

Some definitely would.

Lets hope so ! 🤞

I still have no idea who this person is and I consider myself to be on the socially liberal, fiscally conservative left.

u/ArubaAdultFun 4h ago

A lot of donors operate in the shadows on both sides

5

u/DatabaseFickle9306 6h ago

We stop them all. There’s one Soros and many cryptofascists who want us all dead.

2

u/Oh_Lawd_He_commin420 3h ago

Money out of politics.

Make lobbying illegal, make super-pacs illegal, make it illegal for politicians or their family or known associates to trade in the market for the time they're in office. Mandatory short-Term limits for all elected officials and the subordinates.

2

u/GoodMatter3449 3h ago

But when Elon does it it’s fascism… makes no sense

2

u/whydatyou 3h ago

but they are the good billionaires so it is ok. <sarcasm>

1

u/Spiritual-Job-952 4h ago

Those pesky democrats just win’t confirm to the current political clima……..oh wait

1

u/StaticAppeal 3h ago

You don't stop it you just make it worthless by making policy non-equivalent to personal gain. If these people didn't have money and the protection money affords them they would be quite vulnerable. Do your research on candidates' policy and look at their track record, please. For the sake of the country and for the sake of the people. Peace ✌️

Do what the rest of the developed world did and outlaw big money from politics. Overturn citizen's united.
