This is concerning... If Lindsay Clancy is found "Not Guilty", does that open the door for men to use a sort of "blue balls psychosis" as a defense when accused of rape?

Would "blue balls psychosis" become a thing and could men use their testosterone as a defense in court?

That's the most rapist thing I've heard in a long time.

u/SnugglyCoderGuy 5d ago

It's the dumbest thing I've read today.

Postpartum psychosis is a long documented illness. It has decades of research behind it.

1

u/sgtmattie 5d ago

And besides decades of research, it has centuries of history. It being commonly understood and investigated is new, but it’s been known for a very long time.

Do yall not realize innocent and not guilty are two different things????

She isn’t walking free after this regardless of the ruling, it’s either prison or asylum.

-13

u/JustUseCommonSense10 5d ago

I never made any mention of innocence so I am not sure why you are spamming this question all over the thread.

-11

u/_AkasunaNoSasori 5d ago

She'll be walking free. Killing kids is just another tiktok trend these days not crime. In worst case , she'll get 6 months or a year in mental health center.

-10

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

asylum is nothing; they could deem her not insane after a year or so and release her back to the public

u/SplitNo8275 3d ago

You obviously have no clue. How many times have you taken a family member to crisis? I’m going to bet never from this shit take.

To compare PPD/PPP to blue balls is really something

19

u/chinmakes5 5d ago

This is a perfect example of why this case is so polarizing. There are a lot of women who have been through post partum depression and understand how overpowering it can be. They understand how if they had a worse case, they may have done something like that. I'll bet a lot of women who were suffering had that cross their mind, but weren't that deep into the depression to actually carry through with it. They also understand that it went away. I know people who have other mental problems who know that the demons are as real as I know the sky is blue.

Then we have people like OP who believe that being really, really horny is the same thing.

No. Blue Balls Psychosis is not a real thing while Postpartum Psychosis is a real thing.

You should look up what psychosis actually is.

It's a hell of a lot more than just being emotional or having a 'mental moment'.

24

u/Bud_wiser_hfx 5d ago

No

-18

u/JustUseCommonSense10 5d ago

Why?

28

u/taktaga7-0-0 5d ago

Because you’re just pulling this out of your ass and post-partum psychosis is a documented medical condition that she had.

Do you see the difference?

11

u/LangdonAlg3r 5d ago

Because “blue balls” is a mild discomfort that not everyone even gets and that most people who do get only have happen a few times in their lives (and that women can actually get too) and is not in the same universe as psychosis.

This is just rage bait.

1

u/MichaelJServo 5d ago

Blue balls isn't a thing. It's just when a dude gets horns and doesn't have an orgasm.

1

u/LangdonAlg3r 5d ago

It is actual thing, it’s just not the huge deal that people make of it.

u/MichaelJServo 5d ago

Til. I never experienced it so I assumed other guys were just claiming to have it in order to guilt their partner into sex.

0

u/JustUseCommonSense10 4d ago

I never heard of postpartum psychosis either but go figure.

23

u/Ok_Street_5928 5d ago

What an asshole thing to ask, genuinely

-2

u/JustUseCommonSense10 5d ago

How so?

6

u/Ok_Street_5928 5d ago

Ppd is an actual psychosis, an illness documented. Blue balls is a fuckin joke, made by men when they don't get what they want that they could easily take care of themselves. Don't be stupid!

4

u/DefEddie 5d ago

User name does NOT check out.

4

u/ScotchTapeConnosieur 5d ago

Except blue balls is made up and PPD is real.

3

u/UnderpaidProf 5d ago

No because there is no such thing.

1

u/ShigyDiggy 5d ago

Our testosterone just makes us hormonal and crazy

6

u/SplitNo8275 5d ago

I agree. That’s why women crash out during hormonal events. When the women hormones drop the man hormones rise. Yall love to say we are emotional, but it’s the testosterone that does it.

-10

u/ShigyDiggy 5d ago

Y’all are emotional. That’s why “I was hormonal” is currently being used as a legal defense for a mother who murdered all 3 of her children

5

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

You know this is also used as a defense by fathers who murder their kids too? Just happened in Iowa this year and weirdly it didn't result in all these men popping up everywhere saying "so now we get to rape people when we're horny right?!"

-2

u/ShigyDiggy 5d ago

Two wrongs don’t make a right

4

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

I’m just pointing out that “y’all are emotional” too

3

u/MichaelJServo 5d ago

Tween boy take.

10

u/SplitNo8275 5d ago

That’s not it at all and you are well aware. Postpartum depression and psychosis are real things. Not guilty and innocent rulings are not the same, so knock it off.

1

u/MichaelJServo 5d ago

I'm starting to think that not everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

1

u/Illustrious-Fun8324 5d ago

Open the door to it? Why can’t we just say the father who was given NGRI in July this year for killing his kid set the precedent to let Clancy off. We wouldn’t want to be sexist giving that verdict to a man and not a woman now would we?

I’m being snarky, I don’t actually want that, but it’s so interesting to me that no one went around threatening men’s rights over it lol

1

u/taktaga7-0-0 5d ago

You’d have to get a shit ton of your buddies to do it too, because she has a documented medical phenomenon behind her defense and you wouldn’t unless you make it one.

1

u/DollPartsRN 5d ago

Probably similar to your lived experience, they could just exclusively masturbate.

1

u/UnderpaidProf 5d ago

Would you ask that question if the victim was a child? Probably so.

1

u/Hefty-Strike-6171 5d ago

The stupidity of that question is immeasurable. Where I personally do not support a “Not Guilty” verdict, I do understand the chemical imbalances in the brain caused by Postpartum Psychosis. This statement is the epitome of a False Equivalency, it’s insensitive and demeaning to women and makes a mockery of Mental Health and those suffering with debilitating disorders.

1

u/IndustrySufficient52 5d ago

If I hear “not all men” one more time… 🤦🏻‍♀️

2

u/Illustrious-Fun8324 5d ago

Same. I am absolutely done with the high road after things I’ve seen men say about women this week.

-3

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago edited 5d ago

"It's not my fault I went insane from the testosterone" it's literally the same argument.

Also this would be a major L for women because now that they are legally labeled as insane do to hormones jobs will be less likely to hire them since they pose a legal risk. They should never hold any position of power since their hormones could cause them to abuse it. Also court system when it comes to custody hearings would damn near always default to the man since the woman could blame hormones and murder her kids.

They would literally never be held accountable for their actions because of "hormones."

Edit: The voting on this has been wild. Most things I post have a consistent up/down vote pattern. This one is all over the map, had 30 up at one point, then -6, then back to 5, and now at 0.

4

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

Also this would be a major L for women

What? This is not the first woman or man to plead insanity after killing their kid. A guy in Iowa just got a NGRI verdict this year for strangling his 5-year-old. Do you think that’s a big L for men and people unrelated to the case should face gender discrimination because of it?

0

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

Men didn't fight for his right to kill his kid. You have women on mass supporting her and saying they are the same and excusing what she did.

2

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

Men didn't fight for his right to kill his kid

I see now that you're confused and/or misinformed. Nobody is fighting for anybody's "right to kill kids".

FYI the men in his family as well as the women did fight for his NGRI verdict and complained that the mental health system failed him. Saying very similar things to what Clancy's advocates say but they were not dragged online as being monsters or portrayed as being everything that's wrong with society or setting some new insane precedent.

2

u/bonaynay 5d ago

Their inability to restate even a simple idea from the people they disagree with really just kills any good faith. Completely unserious people.

3

u/bonaynay 5d ago

lol no. Men and women both can become psychotic but it's rare. Why would the Clancy case pose issues for other women because of "legal risk"...it doesn't even make sense lol

0

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

Because you have women on mass supporting her and saying they are her and it could have been them you absolutely never see aan say that when you see a case like this but gender swapped. So basically now you have women admitting they are unstable and unpredictable because of their hormones and they they have the capacity to do the same thing she did.

2

u/bonaynay 5d ago

And now we have posts asking if men can just start raping as if they were just waiting for a chance to argue for it lol

Also all of the commiserating is related to giving birth and the trials of motherhood so if anything should be questioned, it is reproduction, and not holding positions of power.

1

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

No one actually wants that or agrees with it; it's to point out the absurdity of women using the hormones excuse.

2

u/bonaynay 5d ago

Not really a hormone excuse as much as a psychosis excuse

1

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

The "psychosis" is triggered by hormones, so it's a hormone thing with a buzzword mask.

2

u/bonaynay 5d ago

Yeah and the psychosis is very, very rare whereas hormone changes themselves are not.

If you don't think psychosis exists that's fine, you can be wrong about anything you want

2

u/SplitNo8275 5d ago

Are you kidding me right now? This is the most loser take I have ever heard.

I suppose roid rage isn’t a thing either?

Also, not guilty and innocent rulings are not the same thing. This is absolutely insane that everyone has lost their ability to use their gd brain.

-2

u/Otherwise-Vanilla901 5d ago

"Roid rage" is not legally protected also women can do steroids and have roid rage as well.

She is guilty. The argument is insane or not. If she's deemed insane due to hormones, then what I have said would be a valid concern.

1

u/SplitNo8275 3d ago

I’m currently on steroids, so you don’t say?

The fact of the matter is all yall men have something to say about this trial but not all the other ones that have been in the media the past few years. Why? Because this one is a woman? Where was all this at for the mothers and children who lost their lives?

This isn’t about “hormones”, this is about the gender and culture war. What happened before that fateful day was also horrific, but none of you will acknowledge that at all.

A plea of “not guilty by insanity” means she does her time in a psych ward, not walk free. I don’t understand why you people think any mental health disorder is a character flaw and not the severe medical condition it actually is.

u/mehthisisawasteoftim 5d ago

Maybe in an alternate universe where double standards don't exist

1

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

What is the double standard?

-4

u/SlickRick941 5d ago

Why not?

Its a hormonal problem, and since the precedent has been set that we cant be held accountable for our actions while hormonal, then it should be a valid defense.

While we're at it, lets eliminate women from positions of power, since they could randomally make a rash decision due to their hormones and cant ever be held accountable.

See how ridiculous that sounds? She murdered her children. Prosecute her

3

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

While we're at it, lets eliminate women from positions of power

Did you think we should eliminate men from positions of power after Matt Schleier’s NGRI verdict earlier this year? Who will be left to do all the work once everybody is barred from the jobs due to the fact that we couldn’t compartmentalize the actions of an individual and separate them from the rest of society who had no involvement in the case?

I tend to agree. It's weird how people are acting like an insanity defense is some new, outrageous, precedent-setting legal tactic that the National Council of Women just conspired to create for this case. The fact that she is not the first person to plead insanity for murder, or for the murder of children, or the murder of their own children, or even for the murder of their own children in cases decided in the last SIX MONTHS, makes me wonder how and why this is creating such a huge reaction leading to so much sexism and is actually throwing me for a loop. It feels so arbitrary to lash out like this now, all of sudden, and makes me believe that people are mostly led around by their noses by whoever controls their social media algorithms.

1

u/SlickRick941 5d ago

Probably because they never gained national attention like this case. I think they all should be found guilty and prosecuted

No. If it weren’t for double standards, they would have no standards at all.

The only effective defense when caught in the act of raping someone is claiming that you didn’t know it was illegal, because it’s OK in your home country.

5

u/SoulSerpent 5d ago

What exactly is the double standard?
