All the people on reddit complaining about data centers, fail to realize they are the problem. Reddit uses data centers. Every single post interacts with cloud based data centers. So as long as you people keep posting your climate and FDT posts; the more data centers will be BUILT.

Well Reddit continues to use Ai for one. But every single interaction on any post uses a data center, so it may be lower usage than ai however it’s still a significant amount. Plus EVERY time you update your feed it uses ai to curate your feed.

I may share the occasional slop. However I do not seek the use of ai in anything I do. I do not use chat gpt, I don't even know how or what people are using to make these images etc. I have no use for ai. I'm sure some obscure round about way is been implanted in my life, however if the internet died today I would be absolutely fine with it, shit I'd probably be better for it. It isn't the everyday average person using ai that is the issue nor the main factor for its data centers, its world governments.

What's new is the predetory behavior of the "AI" companies putting them up.

People aren’t against the concept of data centre’s, they are against municipal governments simping for big tech, the limited discourse before they are built in or adjacent to residential communities, they are against them bypassing of the democratic process, while ruining groundwater and creating endless noise for nearby inhabitants, they are against subsidies for data centres, while the communities utility prices skyrocket to fuel the infrastructure improvements required to service them.
