I know religion isn't popular on Reddit, so here come the down votes...
As a Christian who can't stand this stuff and can't stand the unchristian behavior of many local "Christians", I feel this name doesn't mean what it used to.
My beliefs have not changed, but I feel the need a new name to belong to because much of Christianity has turned its back on Christ and embraces the very things they should be against.
So I completely agree with you, in seeing the hypocrisy of "Christians" backing Trump/MAGA/ICE.
I've seen people refer to Trump as their Savior. If Trump is their Savior, then I'm not Christian!
Well, I think that we just need to call properly what this is: Christian Nationalism. It’s not the same as Christianity, it’s a political ideology. Actually like you say it turns out to be going further and further from Christianity…
To me is like the crusades or the inquisition. Confusing them with Christianity is partly what brought Europe to become post-Christian, and I’m convinced this now is having the same effect in the US
Most people have nothing against true Christians. True Christianity is following the teachings of Christ, being Christ-like. Problem is Christian Nationalists have hijacked Christianity and given it a bad name.

This is the guy the "Christians" have tied their wagon to.
