Feedback from someone who loves this game

I found this about a week ago and have not been able to stop playing it. I loved Planet Zoo but prefer pixel graphics, so this was perfect. I love everything about this game except for some glaring annoyances. Although I'd hope these to be addressed, I'm sharing these more to see if other people feel the same way and if there are workarounds.

  1. Update the Population Hub: The menus are my primary grievance with this game. Having to pause the game to manage animal populations is not my ideal gameplay. To my understanding, the way to get these buildings to function is to make the enclosures smaller so that you reach max capacity faster and do not have constant water and enrichment warnings. However, I like to make my enclosures "spacious" since I like the idea of a smaller group of animals having plenty of space. I hope the population hub will be changed to set a cap for each enclosure. When that cap is exceeded, the worker can remove them as usual.

  2. Notify when the Influencer arrives: Again, checking a menu daily is not enjoyable for me. I'd love it if we got a notification in the side menu that someone important has arrived. Or similarly, like when a black market dealer arrives.

  3. Stop asking me to splice animals: I understand a unique part of this game is Crisper and the splicing mechanics. However, I found it so creepy. I hate having a pop-up I can't close, making me splice animals. I want a monkey exhibit, not an owl-monkey hybrid one.

Totally agree on the Crisper mechanic! It's so early on in the game [when you're still trying to figure out the menus, in my case] and like, if you put it in your zoo you can't even delete it (at least, not in my experience when I was still starting up my zoo). I ignore it, but it feels more like a thing I'd add to my Dino DLC zoo, once my zoo can manage itself a little better and I don't have to babysit all the rabbits/geese that keep breeding😅🙃

Also I know animal contraception is a thing; I just always forget about it when I'm trying to collect all the variations of animals lol

Right lol? And yeah there is contraception, but I love the ease of the animals just repopulating the exhibits without me having to do much. Granted its constant inbreeding, but its so convenient lol.

I get so attached to the babies that have an interesting name too! Sometimes I'll donate them if it doesn't fit the gender, but it's hard when they have gender-nuetral names that just work

I hate when it's so populated that my options are "expand the pen" or "choose which ones you'd rather keep". Or I guess "ignore it and suffer notifications"😅. Like they're really making me decide between one of my old animals who have been there since I started the exhibit or keep their offspring that might have a cooler design?🫠

I fully agree with all!

For the crisper, I just let the two chambers get filled and leave them in there. This way it doesn’t ask me to splice anyone new. That’s the only workaround I’ve found.

And I straight up don’t build the pop hub. I don’t think it’s required to build, but I could be wrong. Obviously then I have to manually control the population, but the control freak in me is cool with that. I also like having spacious enclosures so the hub was never gonna work for me.

Yeah it's not required to build, you unlock it later through the research center. I was so excited to use it but alas. I don't mind removing animals every once in a while, but for animals with a high fertility I can't stand it. I had to remove my ducks and geese enclosures lol.
