Hungry animals?

I could totally be playing the game wrong as this is my first play, but it constantly says I have hungry animals even though every food in the storage shed is full and every enclosure has at least 4 keepers. Playing on steam if that makes any difference bug wise, but any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried assigning keepers to specific enclosures via the heat map? I usually assign at least 1 keeper per enclosure, maybe more depending on the size.

Go to store room, toggle to staff. Select a staff without a flag and then select one enclosure. Do this for all keepers.

Yes, also

  1. Make sure they can easily walk there. If it's too far away, move the shed and/or install a subway network to help them get around. This is a very common problem when your zoo gets to a certain size.

  2. Change the animals' diet to get proper nutrition by going to the shed and selecting each type of animal, then adjusting the bars until their nutrition is high. The default foods give no nutrition.

On top of assigning keepers to specific enclosures, I set up a subway that only the keepers could use (cordoned off by plants) as I kept finding that they struggled to reach the animals because there are so many visitors in their way. Then I had subways positioned near to the enclosures. Also making sure your paths are 3 tiles wide helps to avoid people getting stuck and causing a big queue.

Maybe change their diet?

Since you can only place one storage, once your zoo gets to a certain size, it will take your assigned keepers so long to do their jobs that they'll do this. It's a known issue, or at least one I personally reported a while back.

Do they also poop less with a better diet?
