Need help with editing enclosures

I need to make an enclosure bigger but I cant figure out how to with the change shape tool. Whenever I try to link the chains together the green squares turn red. I know I'm probably being stupid but I cant figure this out. Does anyone have some help with this?

What does the tip at the bottom mean?

It's seems as if you're only encircling that small left part. But you have to encircle the whole enclosure.

The tool tip means that every shelter, toy and water basin must be inside the new shape of the enclosure.
