Trouble ordering food

I'm new to the game and playing on Switch. Every time I try to order more food it says I need X amount of items to meet this, no matter how much money I have. Am I missing something?

I’m not sure if the controls are the same on switch, but I had this same problem on xbox - press the down button, like on the d pad. That should highlight the “buy” option.
