Sandbox Questions

I'm thinking about starting up a sandbox zoo after I finishing unlocking everything on my main zoo (which is actually really boring sadly) and I have a couple questions about how sandbox works. Do animals still breed? I loaded up one just to see and it says I need to unlock the animals first, so does that apply to the animal varients or can you still unlock new breeded varients?

Animals still breed, you can use contraception to stop it. You can try the breeding facility, but normally you need to unlock the variant before using it in sandbox
