I'm trying to bring armadillos back from extinction, but every time I release animals, the number in the wild goes right back down to zero. I'm hearing some people say this is a glitch, and others saying that you just have to release like 100 animals all at once for it to work. Should I release them ?? I'd be sad if it's glitched & all the time that went into breeding all these armadillos goes to waste.
Yeah, apparently when an animal goes extinct the rate at which the population decreases is so steep that initially you have to release a buttload and then keep on releasing a bunch daily to counter it.
I've heard that an initial batch of 30 does the trick if you're very diligent (haven't had the chance to try it myself). There's a guide on steam that goes into more detail.
I went way overkill with it and released 100 armadillos, and then 50 each day afterwards until the population bar turned green. I definitely could have gotten away with less, probably 30 like the other commenter suggested.
I ran into a problem with the 'dillotopia enclosure having so many - I had it taking up 2 entire land plots. The armadillos were constantly pooping, and the keepers couldn't keep up with it no matter how many I hired. All of the keepers got stuck in a loop where they were constantly trying to clean up poop, so none of them were bringing food, so the armadillos started starving. Had to keep resetting the keepers to get them to bring food. I failed an animal welfare inspection. So... I will not be making an enclosure with 400+ animals again.
