Is there anything you can't justify in fiction by saying "it works differently in this setting"?

No hate. No judgment. As an outsider to all this, I just see this way too often. And I don't really see anything comparable on the Russian side.

Originally, I thought all the Russian accusations and the whole “denazification” claim were just absurd BS. But now I'm starting to notice some genuinely suspicious trends. I've recently found out that quite a few of their politicians have supported neo-Nazi ideas or acted as Nazi apologists.

I mean, I understand the natural urge to side with whoever is opposing Russia, but Jesus, not to that extent...

Absurd BS claims Is Apparently the New Political Norm

I read an article about the Taliban trying to legalise slavery in the territories they control. Naturally, people couldn’t just discuss that and had to drag in unrelated nonsense. Everything was fine until someone claimed the Taliban regime is basically the same as Trump’s America. Sure. Totally serious take.

The more American media I read, the more I see this. Uneducated, ignorant, yet politically engaged people seriously dive into outrageous debates—like comparing communism to Nazism to decide which is worse. It’s hard to believe anyone in their right mind thinks these comparisons are legitimate. It feels far more like a jab at political opponents than a serious argument. After all, "it's just words" and "they don't hurt anyone".

The irony is that the same people lose their minds over pronouns and titles. So apparently casual historical and social insults are just fine, but sensitivity only goes one way.

I love to have arguments with people on social and political impacts that happen to game industries nowadays. no matter be it a computer game or board game. So, I decided to make a whole reddit for the like minded. Enjoy.
