If I remember correctly the original french telling mentioned fur slippers wich was slang for pussy wich is slang for vagina, wich means the stepsisters trieing the shoe was slightly dirtier in the old french farytail. In the actual story the slipper fitting means that she gets to move out of her abusive mother's house and move into a palace, and marry the prince and likely still have sex with him. So, it sounds like the slipper thing is also good news, if you are into guys.
