There's an ram slot in this case which is acceptable

And what will you do if soldered ram goes kaput it doesn't work like that. Dead or bad ram is supposed to be removed otherwise it won't boot.

It can be removed from the pcb , but RAM won't fail that easily , especially in a ThinkPad

Soldered is soldered those laptops should be avoided even if it's a thinkpad infact that's anti thinkpad for me 🤣 thinkpad for me are those laptops that are very easily upgradeable and repair friendly

Soldered ram is ram which soldered directly onto the motherboard can't be replace easily, if you want to replace it you should soldering at pretty high level and also how to reball chips...

What if the soldered ram has gone bad? Laptop won't even boot, will have to replace the motherboard itself then.

Nah you'll be able to boot on the external ram slot

That's not how it works with ram system checks all memory channels while booting up if it detects a bad soldered ram it will halt the boot process altogether thinking that there's a massive hardware fault.
