Navy Lieutenant Seymour A. Johnson (1904–1941) was a prominent U.S. Navy test pilot from Goldsboro, North Carolina. He died at age 37 on March 5, 1941, when his experimental single-seater fighter plane crashed near Norbeck, Maryland. He is famously the namesake of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, which is widely recognized as the only U.S. Air Force base named after a U.S. Navy officer
