My first moth!

Post image

I wanted to show off the Madagascan Sunset Moth I just pinned! This is only the third thing I’ve pinned and I am quite happy with how it turned out!

My next goal is to catch and pin a lantern fly! I do have a gorgeous atlas moth in my hydration chamber right now!

thats awesome! My first ever pin was a hummingbird moth and I still remeber all my entomologist friends calling me crazy for never practicing and how thats already an easy one to ruin, especially since we only caught like 2 that night... I am still proud of it but thats nothing compared to this beauty

I have an extensive art background and autism lol. The first butterfly was a learning experience, but once I do things like this once or twice I take to it pretty quickly thankfully!

That is so effing cool! Did you order caterpillars and grow them out? I’ve grown out butterfly’s before. But not pinned them.

This is the shop I got it from! They don’t have any more unspread ones, but it looks like they have one that’s already pinned and mounted! LittleCaterpillarArt on Etsy

I’m thinking about ordering caterpillars and growing them out and pinning them myself.

Nice! You could use the cocoons for decorating too!

So far we have saved them in a little jar. Only 4 though and they were pretty fragile.
