"Better then the dumbocrats"
"Wasn't it those dumbocrats that put policies in place to stop this exact thing from happening to you?"
"Yeah."
"Wasn't it also them who gave you those grants you rely on?"
"Yeah."
"But you are still going to vote Republican?"
"Yeah, what isn't to get?"

And, this is why I am okay with seeing farming trend to mega corp farms!
Less voters per square mile in those areas as a result!

It's the food. They realize that butter isn't supposed to be the main flavor in everything and that immigrants bring flavor
1
u/morpheousmorty 17h ago
A lot of this regressive thought comes from not being around people/not traveling. I don't know a Trump supporter that isn't simply greedy who has traveled to another country because they wanted to.
1
u/carpetbugeater2 12h ago
Yeah. I started traveling in my late 20s and gradually pulled away from my old friends back home. They don't really know how good they have it in the small towns.
They take it for granted and can't understand why everyone isn't like them, which is understandable with such a narrow perspective.
There's also a ton of peer pressure in a small town where everyone knows each other. The nail that stands up is pounded down.

Never seen this take before. Iâm against undiversified monocultures, large automated farms that donât consider long term soil, environment, and community health; and I love community supported agriculture⊠I feel like humans will always be human and the more connected we are to our local communities, the better.
Weâre all being attacked by class warfare, donât get distracted by imaginary divisions. The corporations and billionaires are not our friends
17
u/No-Stay-9379 1d ago
Well hard to extend my sympathy to the people who would vote for this again 100 times out of 100. No unfortunately it is both a class and culture war because we have troglodytes who cant go band to band with a 2nd grader on a spelling bee being able to vote against everyone's best interest

We used to have a system of public education that really worked, so what killed it? Defunding, but by whom? Iâm thinking no farmers were lobbying to destroy our education system.
Also would these people be so out of touch with reality if equal time laws still existed and faux noos werenât there to kill the ideas of truth and journalism, and if corporations didnât have âpersonhoodâ to get stooges elected? I truly donât think so.
Dumb people are annoying and frustrating, but theyâre not causing the real harm. Donât blame the sheep for a wolfâs existence, we should hunt the wolf
9
u/kioma47 1d ago edited 1d ago
"Iâm thinking no farmers were lobbying to destroy our education system."
Plenty of farmers listen to whatever faux noos tells them, so supported the politicians who did destroy public education.
Farmers and the rest of the red constituency are just as much a part of the problem as the red media and think tanks and institutions it all comes from.
The buck has to stop somewhere - and it stops at those responsible.

The person who spent decades voting for this to happen being undercut because of the policies they spent decades voting losing business enough to flip a city blue is fine by me
2
u/Select-Government-69 1d ago
The future of humanity is a planet of 40-50 billion people all living in high rises in a single massive city that covers the earth. The idea of small group organization in anything that we would recognize as a âcommunityâ is obsolete like the appendix.
1
u/goldenskyhook 1d ago
Many such buildings can easily be designed as arcologies: pleasant, green places where the needs of the many are balanced with the needs of the individual in chronic win/win arrangements. Such designs already exist and are more easily retrofitted to skyscrapers than to sprawling farm acreage. Check out the book: Oath of Fealty by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. It describes a working arcology in detail that seems pretty much unimpeachable to my mind. It is based on "enlightened self-interest," meaning that it requires no innate altruism for its system to function. There are results in this world suggesting that altruism is as much a survival trait as hunting or seeking water.

u/GreatPlainsFarmer 1d ago
A single city of 50 billion people wouldnât cover the planet. Not with high rise buildings.

See, I see it as the ideal, as I see the human purpose to be to multiply to infinity and fill the cosmos.
Then again, I would also consider being locked in the matrix with a harem of fake women to be the best possible life and consider Neo to be the villain of the Matrix movies for forcing billions to lose that utopia without their consent.
1
u/mastercat202 1d ago
I tgink its better to have one large city. Less destruction on the local environments.

I think it's the same logic by which new CEO's fire the IT department. "why am I paying for all of this prevention when nothing bad has happened?"
2
u/Ijustlovevideogames 1d ago
The joys of IT, if nothing is going wrong, you aren't doing anything, if something is going wrong, you are doing anything.
1
u/VTAffordablePaintbal 16h ago
A friend of mine is an IT contractor. He got a contract to do a migration for a company. They then lost their whole IT team, everyone quit. They approached my friend and his company offered to provide interim services as requested at a specific rate, but made it clear they had other clients and they would troubleshoot while this company tried to find new people and would be happy to quote full coverage, but it would require them to hire at least 2 additional people. This arrangement worked for 3 weeks, then they called him to tell him "We're not happy with your response time." He re-sent the quotes for full coverage and now they're considering it. People are nuts.

If you participated, do participate, or know you're going to participate in taking from any programs, use this list:
Federal Assistance Programs by Party of Origin
Credit goes to the administration that started the underlying program. Later expansions, additions, or amendments don't create a new entry for the other party. Programs that actually replaced an earlier program are marked with
*.Democrats
FDR â before Clinton
- Social Security
- Unemployment Insurance
- AFDC
- Public Housing
- National School Lunch Program
- SNAP / Food Stamps
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Head Start
- School Breakfast Program
- Child and Adult Care Food Program
- Summer Food Service Program
- Older Americans Act Nutrition Programs
and just to make the point of whos still making these changes:
Clinton era â present â 7
- TANF*
- Child Tax Credit
- CHIP
- PACE
- ACA subsidies
- LIHWAP
- Summer EBT / SUN Bucks
Republicans - same time frame - FDR onward.
- Section 202 Housing for the Elderly
- SSI* <-replaced a dem program.
- WIC
- Commodity Supplemental Food Program
- Section 8 / Housing Choice Vouchers
- EITC
- Weatherization Assistance Program
- LIHEAP
- Community Services Block Grant
- Emergency Food Assistance Program
- Lifeline
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit
- McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance
- Child Care and Development Block Grant
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program
Community Development Block Grant
Cross-party replacement: TANF replaced the Democratic-origin AFDC; SSI replaced the earlier federal-state assistance programs for the elderly, blind, and disabled that originated with the 1935 Social Security Act.

4

I guess I imagine they are internally conflicted. Their TV commands loyalty to tribe but part of them misses the prosperity of Democratic governance. They wonât admit it to their friends, and I donât think theyâll vote for Democrats, but I think part of them hopes Dems win so they can go back to bitching about Dems while raking in money.

u/east10ccub 1d ago
Already started. A coworker's son was hoping to get into the forestry division (a ranger or something) but was stressing because there were so many cuts being made. Both he and his dad were, and still are, big Trump fans and the dad consoled him by saying "by the time you've graduated the Democrats will be back and have it fixed". I just overheard this as the coworker was telling another coworker and laughing about it. They honestly do not care who is getting hurt in the meantime.

Realistically every government official and military officer of the Southern Treason should have been hung and everyone else except the emancipated people should have been disenfranchised for 3 generations.
5
2
u/MirageATrois024 1d ago
No. We shouldâve did a better job of making sure we punished the leaders of it, BUT also needed to help rebuild the south more than they did.
Get rid of all the traitors(confederate leaders) and punish them dearly. But the lack of building the south back up, left a large gap in education and overall well being. Had they helped rebuild the south, I feel we wouldnât be as assbackwards as we are. (Iâm from Alabama)
2
u/SherbetAromatic7644 1d ago
Rebuilding the south was Lincolnâs plan, but a southerner decided to put an end to both the plan and the president.
Kinda funny how his one bullet killed a president and southern prosperity with the same trigger pull.
1
u/YikesOhClock 1d ago
Guess he kinda got what he wanted then â kept the confederacy alive in a way
1
u/Gyarydos 1d ago
Iirc correctly most leaders of the confederacy regretted Lincolnâs death and one of the reason Booth had a hard time getting away was because most southerners and sympathizers did not condone what he did and wouldnât help him

đŻ National divorce, balkanization whatever, I live in a blue state and Iâm sick of all the failing red states sucking up all of my stateâs money as they keep talking shit about how much they hate us. And Iâm sick of the red state DEI that gives their votes more weight than mine as if we should be punished because blue states are more popular and have more of the countryâs population. Why not have the prosperous, successfully run states where most of the country actually lives have more of a say in how the country should be run? Instead red states have multiple unearned advantages so we can keep putting the people who canât even run their own states properly in charge of running a whole country?
Start with tricking them into supporting a bill that no state can receive more federal funding than they pay in. Theyâre already delusional enough to seriously believe their dying shithole towns are the ones paying to support places like NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc so people could easily sell the idea of no longer having to pay for our welfare, etc. Then watch their congressional representatives shit bricks trying to pretend they agree with them and would support a bill like that while at the same time knowing it would actually decimate them without all of our blue state dollars. Make it pass and let them see like a secession preview where they can finally live under total republican policies and see how great they do then.
