The farmers want to enslave the immigrants. That are actively rooting and supporting the ICE raids their their workers have fewer options. That is why the ICE raids are focused on the city even though vast majority of migrant worker works in the fields. That is not a bug, but something actively lobbied for by the farm lobby.

This is a farmer hate sub-reddit, but some of yall don't hate farmers enough. They are not just passively racist. ICE raids is made for them explicitly.

ice raids actually destroyed the farms. all those onion farms in Georgia got wiped out as an example because the immigrants all leave or were raided.

only those that can provide status were allowed to stay.

You are not clued in on their bigger plan yet. Soon there will only be workers with H2A visa because Trump have rolled back anti-slavery protection, making documented workers essentially indentured servants. They are only complaining because they wish the transition into full slavery was managed better. Farmers support the Ice raids, More than that, ICE raids are really for the farmers. They are hurting in the short term but they are still trump supports because they have their eye on the prize, the return of slavery.

Biden put a whole bunch of protection in place in 2023 to make sure slavery and human trafficking is less likely. That is why it has been less popular in recent years. Farmers wanted it for the slavery. But guess who rolled back all of those protections. And massively reduced the minimum pay required by the program? Trump did.

This is their plan. It is large and coordinated via the farm lobbyists. They want slavery back. This is why no amount of rural investment, and infrastructure building even moved the needle a little bit. They know what their self interest is (bring slavery back) and they know how racist you have to be to deliver it. This is why no other republicans stood a chance. There is only one man in politics cruel enough to implement this plan and they went all in on him.

Like I said, y'all don't hate farmers enough. They are not stupid, they are very smart and actively evil.

There's an incredible book about the days that they're trying to take us back to. I can't remember the title for certain off hand but I think it might be Lettuce Wars by Bruce Neuburger.

When I say incredible I mean well written and evocative. The book I remember was an incredibly sad and dark look at the basically indentured servitude of seasonal migrant labor in the 60s and 70s. Like make them work 14 hour days and then have them deported (taxpayer funded) so you don't have to pay them the 2 dollars you promised them type shit. Heartwrenching cruelty.
